I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm wondering if it is possible to include the DVB subtitles with the transcoded xvid files GB-PVR creates using ffmpeg. Or if there is some other recommended route to include subtitles.

I'd prefer the subtitles not be burned-in to the video, but rather .srt or some such, but any subtitles is better than none.

Thanks!

No response from anywhere? I'd also like to rip DVB-subtitles from recorded .ts files to a .srt file.

Is it possible?

Unfortunately the DVB subtitle format is not based on text, and is usually all done with bitmaps, so apps typically have no idea what the text of the subtitles says, so no easy way to write the text to a .srt file.

Ah, so then it will be the long way around with extract subpictures, reformat and run OCR... Probably not suited to run in a post-procesing batch.

BTW Sub: Any hint when the next release that supports digital pay-tv will be released? Smile

I'd originally planned to have it out by about now. We did start pre-release testing a couple of weeks ago, but I got busy with my day job, so that pre-release testing is going pretty slow at the moment. Also, I'll be out of the country next week, which also pushes things back a bit. Sorry.

Ok, I'd be happy to help with some general testing.
