Sorry upfront for the long post Wink

Comcast has just notified me that they are going all digital in my area. This is going to cause me to make significant changes to my audio/video system, including GBpvr as they are all still running on analog. I have happily used GBpvr for years, with almost no intervention from me, so well I didn't give it much thought at all, until now, sadly. Since i distribute audio/video throughout the house via analog MVP's over modulators to mix with the TV signal and be available on any TV. The analog and digital signals do not mix well together so I see no alternative but a dual system.

I have just a couple of basic questions for those that have already made this change and been through the process.

I'm still using GBpvr 99.12 and it's been rock solid but, am I right that I will have trouble getting digital tuners to work with it?

According to Hauppauge the replacement for the WinTV-USB2 units I use now is the WinTV-HVR-1950. Have they been as good a performer as the analog units they are replacing or should I look at something else?

Last and most importantly, also the real reason I'm still on version 99.12 is the music plug-in jukebox2. My current music system is made up of the Jukebox2 plug-in powered by GBpvr feeding multiple sources to my whole house music system through MVP's. This one simple plug-in is the backbone of my music system. I see that it's no longer listed as working with the newer versions of GBpvr. Is there something that replaces it or has it's functions been replicated in another music player. Most I've looked at don't seem to be as solid, quick or have the ease of operation this does. Family and guests look forward to being able to press a button to add a song to the queue, it's been a hit around here for years so much so that if I have to I'll strip version 99.12 to the bone, give it it's own computer system and run just it. Wasteful I know but it's that important to a household full of music lovers, amateur as well as professional.

As long as I'm batting a 1000% here I have one aditional question to add to the 3 above.

Which has been most successfull as a replacment for MVP's in GBpvr the PCH or the HD PVR?

They are two different things.

The PCH plays stuff (very well) on your TV and now integrates very well with GBPVR and the HD PCR is a capture device for HD.

So for an MVP replacement - the PCH or clone. And something for a grabber.

As I get closer to figuring out what to do with all this i have one question left that I'm hoping someone can answer.

Will it be possible to get the WinTV-HVR-1950 to work with version 99.12 or am I going to have to upgrade the entire GBpvr setup to make it work?

I do exactly the same, but I use Music Library2 - it's not the same as Jukebox2, but you'll soon get used to the differences. You could install it on 99.12 to try it out.

Thanks for the answers guys, I'm a little behind the 8 ball here, being out of touch for so long. It's all Sub's fault Smile, 99.12 has run, without me touching it, for almost two straight years now and I'm beginning to see there have been lots of changes.

I remember looking at Music Library2 a long, long time ago. To tell the truth it's so long I forget why I ended up not using it and concentrated on Jukebox2 instead. I guess I'll have to try it again just to refresh my failing memory. Smile

Hi nightwalker! welcome back. I got hooked on modulators a couple of years ago because of you. There are a few things about digital that I think will make you want to update to the latest release. The main thing is that the signals come over transport streams in .ts format. You can mux them to mpegs, but you will loose some of the advantages of .ts. Primarily, you will not be able to perform multirecording in mpeg. In digital, there are potentially several channel on the same stream. Using multirecord you can record any or all of these channels at the same time, off a single tuner.

If you can find a solution to your music issue, I think you will be very pleased with how well and trouble free the new release is. As you might have found in surfing the forum, most issues are with setting up and scanning the digital tuners and finding the correct codecs to get high def stuff playing the best. With your background, I am sure you can get through these parts with little pain. And, as usual, you know where to go to find the answers.Wink
