I have an Asus PHC3-100 dual tuner card that I am trying to get working with GBPVR. From reading previous posts I was able to get the Analog tuner working but have not had luck with the ATSC/QAM tuner. Using the software supplied with the card I can tune both ATSC and QAM channels but would like to use GBPVR instead. I added the following to bda.ini but scans for OTA channels do not find any. Any help will be appreciated. I also attached FilterCheck.log, config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log. I can attach any other log files that may be helpful.

thanks,

Hobbes

Added to bda.ini
Code:
[ASUS PHC3-100]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=ASUS PHC3-100 ATSC/QAM Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=ASUS PHC3-100 Digital TV Receiver
PIN_TUNER_IN=Antenna In
;PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=TS Out

GBPVR thinks it's an OTA tuner. If you are lucky, you can try adding "TUNING_SPECIAL=2" to the ini entry. You also need to remove the semicolon. The output pin is not listed in filtercheck but it should be created once the tuner is connected to the network provider filter.

Code:
[ASUS PHC3-100]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=ASUS PHC3-100 ATSC/QAM Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=ASUS PHC3-100 Digital TV Receiver
PIN_TUNER_IN=Antenna In
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=TS Out

[ASUS PHC3-100 (QAM)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=2
FILTER_TUNER=ASUS PHC3-100 ATSC/QAM Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=ASUS PHC3-100 Digital TV Receiver
PIN_TUNER_IN=Antenna In
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=TS Out

Whurlston,

Thanks for the assistance. I added the text you posted into my bda.ini file and now I can tune the OTA digital stations. The QAM channels still do not work. Is there anything else I can try or is it just that my card is not supported for QAM? I will post my logs if you think they may help.

thanks,

You can try scanning alternate frequencies with the QAM.ini manager located at http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=38408

If that doesn't work, you may be out of luck unless Asus is willing to provide sub with information on how to get QAM working with the device. You can zip and post your config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log after scanning and maybe something will stand out in the logs though.

Whurlston,

I used the qam.ini manager program to search for QAM channels without any luck. I tried the following settings:
  • Default with channel numbers
  • Default with channel frequencies
  • Center frequencies
  • HRC frequencies
  • HRC center frequencies

I attached the log files hoping they may shed some light on the problem. If not I may need to look at getting a different tuner card.

thanks,

It looks like it's operating properly but the device never manages to lock onto a signal. Do you have the cable plugged into the "ATSC" or "Cable" input? It should probably be the "ATSC".

I have the cable going through a splitter and it is then connected to both the CATV and ATSC inputs.

Are you able to get QAM with the included software (if there is any included)?

Yes. The included software is ArcSoft Total Media 3.5 and it finds about 200 QAM stations but most are encrypted. The number of unencrypted channels is about 15-20.

Try changing your FILTER_TUNER line to read:
Code:
FILTER_TUNER=ASUS PHC3-100 MCE ATSC Tuner
