Req clarification of how IR Server works

I've been trying to get IR Server working for several weeks. I've managed to get IR Server Suite to learn the remote for my STB in Translator, but when I try to change channels from GBPVR, nothing happens. I believe that I've followed these instructions, but clearly I've missed something.

After a remote is learned, how does Translator know which button is supposed to represent that command. There are number commands on there, but don't I want them to retain their current functions as well?

Did you set the channel changer up in GBPVR. Here is a screenshoot of my setup if it helps.

Thanks. I already had that, but it's not working. I'm trying to get clear in my head, how a keypress on my remote gets tranlated to an IR sender transmitting. Obviously GBPVR sends the channel number to irblast-nowindow.exe. As I mentioned above, I've got the numeric buttons from my paytv remote recorded. I'm trying to work out how ir server knows that when it gets told to select channel 101 (to pick a random example), it should blast "1", "0" and "1" that I've recorded.
