What do you have configured as your channel changer under the capture source settings in config?
When I change channels, I get a line in the logs which has the channel number, and something like USBUIRT: "Sending 57"

So this is livetV from the PCH?

I have it set to .exe changer plugin with hipsend. Im using the following parameters:

I also have the zero pad and three digit channel checkboxes checked.

I don't know if this is causing your problem but I use hipsend and to get it to work after a GBPvr update I have to allow the recording service to interact with the desktop.

Go into 'Control Panel' and 'Administrative Tools' find GB-PVR recording Service right click on it and go to properties, click on the 'Log on' tab and check the box to allow it to interact with the desktop.

If I don't do that each time I install/upgrade GBPVR it stops changing channels.

I hope that helps

Thanks for the suggestion but I already have that setting set in the service.

For kicks, I decided to upgrade to the latest version. Still the same problem. I noticed that the logs didnt have that much information so I changed the log settings. Attached is the logs for debug mode.

I have noticed the following:

Key Pressed: ^p
No Mapping for ^p

I believe this is the problem. Where do I map this? I have this already in HIP.

Those hip settings are all for controlling GBPVR aren't they - not GBPVR controlling the STB through the IR blaster.

Have you taught HIP the commands for your STB remote?
Does it test OK in there?

So do you get any channel changes on your STB at all? (recordings or liveTV)
Does the light flash on the emiter thing (if it has a light) you have stuck onto the front of your STB (and it that emitter positioned right over the IR eye of the STB?)

Does HIP tell you it has no mapping for CTRL-P, or did you see no mapping for it?

Yes, HIP is configured and I can change channels on the STB using LiveTV. I have the 0-9 and the ch- and ch+ mapped to the STB as per the wiki. My problem now is that when I select a channel THROUGH the TVGuide it doesnt change the STB. This is causing a problem with show selection through the TVGuide as well as the schedule recording because GBPVR is not able to change the STB channel on its own. If you look at the logs I have provided, thats where i saw that message "no mapping for key press ^p".

It looks to me that alot of people have successfully set this up. So it has to be something local. A config missing or set wrong. Now I have installed the latest version from scratch and configured HIP as per the wiki. Other than that, I am not exactly sure what I need to do next to get GBPVR to work from the TVGuide.

If you change hipsend.exe to notepad.exe. When you change channels, i believe, gbpvr will try to open a text file called what ever channel you tried to change to. So if you change channels using both methods (ch+/- and using the tv guide) you will be able to see what gbpvr is sending to an external program.
If the info is correct for both the problem will be a configuration in HIP and not gbpvr.
I know it doesn't solve the problem but it will narrow it down for you.

Thanks for the hint. I exactly did that and what happened was that notepad trid to open a text file with the filename '002 300 3 1'. So this meant that GBPVR was actually sending the correct info to HIP.

So I downloaded HIPWSend and tested it a bit more. Both HIPSend and HIPWSend kept on saying that command sent OK but I didnt see the channel change or anything.

So this narrowed it down as a problem with HIP. I went back to the forums searching for other people having a problem with HIP. I found a post by a senior member PBS here and his HIP2NET - a HIP alternative. I used that along with the MCE key mapping that he provided and WOW. Super easy to set up and everything is back to normal. Eventhough I had configure my firewall and such (which is not a problem), I was no where near as painful as the HIP configuration.

Thanks everyone. Im back up and now I recording the golf channel! w00t w00t!!
