forzaKGB, although changing it via the command line will work with GBPVR recordings, it will fall back to Auto for playback of non-mpeg's and it is still not a recommended setting .

Another note though I have little reason to think that resetting to factory defaults fixed anything that a simple power off would not have fixed. I'd treat it first as a network problem or even a PCH problem specific to your unit. Not being able to use the Network Browser is probably just configuration and not related to the PCH.

Yes I realise I have to set i correctly on the PCH, just forgot about it last night.

OK, I just cannot see why it started to react this way on the remote control (which was why I did the reset). But the fact is that it does work after the reset and a power off (tried both with the power button and when that did not work I removed the power cord for 30 seconds and the plug it in again, not that I think that it makes any difference but I thought I could try it anyway). That is what I am suspecting a faulty unit, not the fact that it cannot browse. I also got the Error: Cannot find Master Browser on the PCH.

Just to upadete about my status I will return my PopcornHOUR tomorrow since the remote has stopped working alltogether now. I tried to use the MVP remote (after replacing the lircd1) but that did not work either so I will return it to get it checked.

We'll see if it works any better after it is returned, so right now I'm back with the MVP and realise what a difference it is...

Just to be sure, it's been a long time since I've seen this mentioned, did you remove the protective plastic off the front panel?
