TV setup issues - PCTV nano stick 73e

Oh dear- i clearly didnt do enough checking before I bought this HD stick! Why on earth are PCWorld and other shops full of freeview decoding sticks with HD capabilities like the pinnacle one i bought if none of them are going to be able to actually recieve freeview HD TV in the UK? Crazy!!?

So that means that as Freeview HD channels start up/ get switched over in the UK, no existing hardware will be able to decode it. To use GBPVR for Freeview HD new cards will need to be launched and fitted? Or we need to switch to Freesat which has some HD already and uses DVB-S or DVB-S2?

Do you want High HD or Medium HD?

As I understand it, Freesat transmits 1080 line HD. Freeview will transmit 720 line HD.

Don't forget to worry about whether your graphics card will run HD. You can spend a month or several researching the H.264 decoder and whether it supports hardware acceleration (DXVA --- V1 or V2?).

I have heard that some folk think that it's easier to just buy a television ... but where's the fun in that?

Well even if no HD it would still be great to get this second stick to work!

I have now tried various things and found that unplugging the existing wintv nova-t 2 channel usb stick and then trying tuning the PCTV nano stick 73e allows it to work just fine.

But as soon as i put back the nova-t, the PCTV nano stick stops working and gets stuck tuned to one block of channels. But this problem is only with GBPVR viewing and config software (while the nova-t is plugged in the PCTV stick works with the software that came with it). The nova-t stick works fine whatever the configuration.

All very odd - any suggestions appreciated before i finally give up on the PCTV stick with GBPVR

could not find channels on my 73e se, I found old drivers from other usb tuner still in system.

in hidden folder... c/windows/inf

I deleted the following files

oem34.inf
oem34.pnf

Problem solved.
