Hi All,

Noob here, who is just a hair from getting his GBPVR box running. My final issue is changing channels with a remote and DTA.

I have an MCE2005 remote with beanbag, and IR blaster, and I'm trying to get it to work with my Comcast Pace DC50x DTA. I've "learned" the channels with the plugin and remote, but don't get any channel changing. After STF's, I'm here wondering if anyone else has found a solution to this problem...

Regards, George

Hello George, here are a few things for you to look at. I've been wanting to try some of the newer ways but I haven't had time. Post up with what you found to be best and easiest.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Neither the built-in support for MCE2005 remote in GBPVR, nor IR Server Suite worked for me. I was finally successful with HIP, which is an amazing PITA to configure... thanks to the guide in the Wiki I was able to get it running. Now my GBPVR box is totally functional, and it is FANTASTIC.... even my wife likes it... Rolleyes. Comskip is also amazing.

Yeah, there is a bit of a learning curve of HIP, the worst part for me was getting the blaster to learn my DirecTV remote when I upgraded to an HD receiver. I ended up having to program my Harmony remote with the DirecTV commands so HIP would get the right word size. Nothing beats GBPVR feature wise and doing the work is well worth it. Also the net2hipsend by pBS helped me a lot. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=41043

Thanks for that tip (Event Ghost). That was going to be my final (and last) gasp if I couldn't get HIP going. But I'm not messing with it at the moment.

I had HIP and found it so much harder to configure than EventGhost.

I had to move away from EventGhost when I upgraded to a DirecTV HD receiver due to the lack of a serial port and because EventGhost doesn't support the MCE2005 blaster per http://www.eventghost.org/docs/supported_receivers.
