I did a search on this issue in the forums and google and couldn't find my same problem. I'm running 1.4.7.

I am new to GB-PVR and I am extremely impressed at how polished the application is. It seems to perform everything I was hoping for but I am having the following problems. Only the first one is serious to me and the other two aren't as important I am just more curious than anything.

1. When playing back VOB files using the Video Library (all of my VOBs except for one exhibit this behavior) I have the following problems:
a. The video jumps forward every few seconds. For example, on one movie, the opening 20th Century Fox theme plays, then it jumps to about 5 minutes into the movie. 5 seconds later it freezes, then jumps ahead another 30 or so minutes and then it keeps jumping forward so that the whole movie wraps up in about 30 seconds. It isn't fast forwarding, it just skips ahead.
b. The times above are just estimates as the progress bar at the top of the screen shows 0:00 to 0:00 with no progress indicator. Other movies show 0:00 to 0:06 (i.e. 6 seconds) and when it reaches the end of the progress bar, the movie still keeps playing (well, jumping forward).
c. I checked the log files and thought it might be some kind of commercial skipping so I turned off everything related to commercial skipping but that didn't help.
d. The videos play fine in Cyberlink DVD.
e. I have tried a couple of different codecs (the free MPEG-2 and Cyberlink).
f. Selection choices on the DVD tab don't seem to impact anything (i.e. DVD navigator etc.), so I am guessing that Video Library files (even VOBs) do not use any of those settings (unless maybe you are using ISOs with a daemon??)
g. I think I used Handbrake to rip these files, do I need to use a different program?

2. The TV Guide on a client computer doesn't show - It just has the channels and times, but an empty grid with placeholders at the bottom that show @ProgramTitle and @ProgramDescription or something similar.

3. I can turn on Live TV on the client computer, but if I change the channel, GBPVR freezes. I have to check the logs but I wasn't sure if this is a common issue so I thought I'd bring it up.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!!

I played around with this a bit more and noticed that the VOB playback issue I am having occurs in both GBPVR and in MediaPortal.

However, the same files play back perfectly in PowerDVD and in XBMC (plus on my PS3 through Playstation Media Server).

I thought it might be a file size issue (i.e. greater than 1GB) but even 800MB VOBs of TV shows don't work properly.

Is there some kind of common denominator between the filehandling in GBPVR and MediaPortal which doesn't exist in XBMC and PowerDVD?

In the video library, are you playing these as a DVD or as .vob files? ie, if you retained your VIDEO_TS folder etc, the video library should have played it as a DVD, with menus etc.

I was trying to play just the straight .VOB file (i.e. I discarded the video_ts folder and the associated files within that folder).

I used DVDDecrypter to rip another DVD this time keeping the folder structure intact and this time GBPVR showed the file as moviename.dvd ... When I tried to play it back I got a black screen and playback never started but I could hit ESC and go back to the menu. I checked the logs and it did give me an error - but I didn't have time to investigate further. I think it might be due to the fact that I didn't split the VOB files so I'll try that and if I can't get it working I'll report back with the log files.

Thanks!!!
