What exactly doesn't work? Also, post your PVRx2.*.log files after reproducing the problem (eg: trying to view pictures or listen to music).

clicking on Music or Photos causes just a flash. the only errors in the logs (pvrx2) refer to being unable to find a skin, which in other post you have indicated that this is not a problem.

In the Advanced post editor, click the little paper clip icon.

But it looks like you named more than one of the music directories "Music" when you added them in config. If you added a folder "C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Music" and called it "Music", then when you added "G:\My Music", it should have been called something different like "Music on G" for example.

If you open config.xml in Notepad (don't use wordpad), you can edit the following entries:

Code:
<PhotoLibraryDirectory>Default~F:\Photos|</PhotoLibraryDirectory>
<MusicLibraryDirectory>Default~F:\Music|Music~F:\Music2|Her Music~F:\More Music|</MusicLibraryDirectory>

The vaues should be [Name to show in list]~[C:\Folder Path]| (notice the "|" after each entry).

Uninstalled fro control panel again and setup config. The Music directory was renamed to Music, Pictures and Videos. Everything works Guide, Live TV, Movies and Videos. No Joy on Music or Pictures. It just flashes the Skin with the Play All entry. WMC and WMP play the entries ok. Also There is Not and "FM" radio option in the main menu.

Thx for your help

I see it's still giving the COM exception error but I don't know what is causing it. I'm guessing sub may know what would cause it though. You may just need to wait for him to take a look.

Code:

Is your G: Drive a network share by any chance? If so, it may be a permissions issue.

I think it relates to some shortcut files you have in the configured media directories. It sees these shortcuts, and the app tries to use a Window's component call IShellLink to find out where it points, but its having problems getting that Windows component on your machine for some reason.

Drive G: is indeed a network share. The permissions issue occurred to me and I added a user "everyone" with full control. I can view and play the files located in G:\music everywhere on the network. Also G:\videos is created and shortcutted identically to G:\pictures and G:\music and it works fine. Drive G: is my data drive and the shorcuts are from C:\users\me-the-user\My Documents\My Music -- etc. I really appreciate the help -- without it, I would have given up.

I would remove the shortcuts in the folder and add them to the directories list in GBPVR config. Make sure you name each entry differently like:

Music = G:\Music
Music 2 = C:\users\me-the-user\My Documents\My Music

etc.

Alternatively, you might be able to use NTFS linking. pBS posted instructions somewhere on the forum how to do that.

Latest steps: Remove shortcuts to G:\Music (still just Flashes). Unshared Drive G:, Made sure that "everyone" had full control over Drive G: and folder Music. Still no joy.

Copied the entire Music folder to Drive E: and edited the GBPVR config Directories to point to E:\Music -- Still just a flash in pvxr2. (com msg still present). Copied the entire Music folder to C:\users\Public\Music and added the entry to config. pvxr2 now shows both the E:\Music and the C:\ library Music. Clicking "Play all" causes a return to the main menus. (com error again).

Since this problem started when I upgraded in place from Vista SP2 (gbpvr worked perfectly under Vista) to W7 where it stuttered and paused and the uninstall option was lost in the control panel, I thought that maybe vcredist_x86 had likewise become corrupted (com error). I uninstalled gppvr, deleted the devnz folder and uninstalled vcredist. Downloaded a fresh copy of vcredist_x86 from the Link on the GBPVR web-site and reinstalled. Reinstalled gbpvr, edited config "Directories" and crossed my fingers. No Joy --- same error same result. Is it possible that a needed COM module is missing and if so where would it be located?

Incidently for those wondering why its difficult to remove the Devnz folder under W7 -- When I cleaned out the registry and neglected to delete the GB-PVR keys, it left the recording service running. W7 wouldn't let me delete the Devnz folder but gave no reason. Using the command prompt showed that the folder was deleted but Explorer said it was still there. Booted into safe-mode and indeed the folder was still there. I deleted it from there.
Since the recording service started up again when I booted normally, it was still running when I tried to reinstall gbpvr. Frustrated I downloaded BTV4 and installed it -- It worked but didn't have all the features of gbpvr -- during the uninstallation of BTV4 it asked me to stop a snapstream service. Lo and behold -- there was the running gbpv recording service. Deleted the gb-pvr registry keys -- restarted the computer and then was able to reinstall gbpvr. There might be a lesson here but not sure what it is.
