Have you checked in the Device Manager that the ATI driver has actually loaded and it's not just using some crappy MS one?

Well, I'm not sure how I know for certain, but it's called "ATI Radeon HD 4350" in the hardware list. On another attempt with another version, it was called "ATI 4300/4500 Series"

I'm sure it is the ATI one. But you can double click on the thing in the device manager (or right click and properties) and then look under driver and it will say who the manufacturer of the driver is. Presumably ATI/AMD (I cant check mine at the mo, my work laptop doesn't have a ATI video...). If it is the ATI one that's my theory on CCC screwed anyway. Looks more like reinstall windows time!! (which by the way I would bet would have taken less than 8 hours! Maybe not to fix all the things you forgot to back up or where the drivers came from though...)

Yes, that's what I mean...last time I reinstalled, it took weeks to get my system stable again (and that was a repair install). Besides, I'm not wasting my earlier brilliance. I suspect this has more to do with my TV. Looks like it's back to the x1250.

Well, it's 2:30 AM and I just can't get Catalyst to run. I've tried every combination of installations I can think of, in a variety of versions.
I've been reading about the Tray Tools, and I just downloaded a (possibly old) version. There doesn't seem to be much support for High Defnition. Is there a version that goes to 1080p 50 and 60? If I can't get CCC to run, then maybe it is a sign.

buy a nvidia card and throw the ati one in the bin
their drivers are just rubbish these days ... have you tried something like this to clean out old drivers http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Dri...d1655.html

You could also try PowerStrip to set your 1080p@50 or 60 or whatever else you want and forget about CCC. I used it for a while when I couldn't get CCC to do 1080p@50. Works well although you can make a mess. I still worry that you've got something more fundamentally wrong if you used to have CCC working and now you don't.

I admit that I still haven't managed to run Catalyst, but I am running this hard-installed card with the 9-12 drivers. It looks terrible; much, much worse than my x1250 did, hard as that is to believe. It looks like I will just have to change them back (I wonder how long that will take), but I don't want to give up just yet because it HAS solved the problem of the simultaneous playback and recording.
The problem I'm having is immense video tearing. The picture virtually splits in half with every pan, and people's hair comes off when they move their heads. This is using the same decoders and muxers that gave me most success with the x1250. What does everyone think? Is this something that successfully installing Catalyst can resolve? Am I missing anything else?

This is just instinct, but I'm convinced that CCC won't load because it doesn't like the way the new card's drivers are working on my system. I suppose I could go back to the x1250 and find that CCC still doesn't work...that would typify my life...but I actually don't expect that to happen. I wonder if the new card is arguing with the onboard adapter (even though I have it disabled in the BIOS).

I would like to really try Hoborg's unlocked SAF before I give up on this card, but my latest attempt to install it produced the same result: no Cyberlink decoder is available (only ffdshow and Intervideo). I've ensured all other codecs (save Quicktime Alternative) are uninstalled, unlocked the key, checked carefully that I am online during the installation; but no luck. I will post this with logs in Hoborg's thread, too: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post360702
