I'm interested by your post as you seem to have similar issues to me before I updated the SATA driver. It did seem to be watching the in progress HD recording more than the ongoing recordings themselves that caused my issues. I've got an HD4650 though so I don't believe it's lacking in power. Likewise the CPU is always dead low so it's not that. The memory is dual channel and I'm sure not the bottleneck. Since upgrading the SATA driver and then upgrading to win7 it's not had the same issue, but it also coincided with some awful weather and crappy signal so I knew that was causing problems. Now I've upgraded to win7 the weather is fine but I have noticed sometimes watching an in progress recording that the sound will go and the video will skip. Pressing pause/resume clears it and it's fine. I never had this on Vista!
