BigMoose, when you can spare five minutes, can you please visith this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post361211 to give me more advice about the improvements to your SATA drives?
As I said, I'm not ignoring the advice to reinstall...I'm gathering assets and planning the reinstall. It's difficult to explain why a reinstall would be so much more difficult than average for me to get right, but I really can't just jump into it. I am planning to post a thread soon about live online TV streaming, so that might explain some of it.
My plan is to install everything I need or want, and get it working to the best of my ability on my existing system. I am keeping records and copies of configuration files as I go, from which I will create a "patch" CD to supplement my Windows installer. In addition, I will install a new drive that I can select from a boot menu, so that I have the option of continuing to boot to my current configuration until I get a smoothly-running new system.
Longer term, I will use the existing drive as a "ghost" of my system. Whenever I want to install something new, I will switch to the older drive and make all my mistakes there before performing a single installation on the new drive.
Anyway, Hoborg identified one of the filters that I can't give up as interfering with the SAF, so a reinstall would not help that particular case (but will likely calm down many of my other problems).
