Im new to all of this, and I'm not sure I understand a few things. I have 2 HVR-2250 cards hooked up.

First of all, how do I switch between capture sources or how do I know what capture source is being used by what? For instance after I finish configuring a new capture source, how would I test it? It just seems to keep going to the same one when watching live TV.

Also, how can I tell this thing to use only certain capture sources for certain channels?

In my "Analog Recording Plugin" capture source configuration, what are the 9 "Board Numbers" (ie: Capture Device #1) referring to exactly?

And in my "Digital Recording Plugin" capture source configuration, what exactly is the "Device Number"? I have 1 - 8 as my choices.

Live TV uses capture sources on the list from bottom up, recordings go top down.
You can re-arrange the order with the 2 buttons at the side (not labelled)

Untick the enabled checkbox in the capture source setup.

Unless someone else on hewre tells you otherwise,
If you have only one of the same type of card, leave it as number 1.

I have a HVR 2200, and it has 2 x analog & 2 x digital - so on the second setups for each of those, I change them to capture device 2.

EDIT: I see you have the 2250, so you wil set up the same.
You can leeave it as one QAM & 1 analog, or you can create 2 of each so if Tuner 1 is being used for QAM, you can still record QAM on tuner 2 (if available) or record 2 x analog (or one of each obviously)

what he said is true, and since you have 2 of the same card using same driver, second card's cap sources would be setup just like first one, but for all, the board # would be 2..

board # denotes number of cards with same driver..[eg identical boards]
so if you had 3 different capture cards all different brands, they would all be #1...
if you had 3 2250's, 1 would be #1,2 would be board #2,etc...

device # is the device # on that card..
so you have board #1, devices 1 and 2..
and board # 2 has devices 1 and 2...

[you can actually setup 4 cap sources on 1 2250, 2 digitals, 2 analogs, and it will use whatever's not busy...being 2 digitals when needed, or 2 analogs, or a mix..]
gets kinda complicated when you go that route...easiest is just setup 2 for each..

So from what you guys say, it sounds like a single 2250 would have one single board #, but yet to get 2 separate capture sources configured with s-video for each, I had to use board number: capture device #3 on one, and board number: capture device #4 on the other (why it is 3 and 4 I dont know, but those seem to be the only ones that see anything from the s-video inputs). This doesnt seem to be consitant with what you guys are telling me... or am I missing something?

If you have a setup with a single HVR-2200, then it appears to GB-PVR as two device (#1 and #2). Each of those capable of analog or digital. So, you could setup two digital capture sources, as device #1 and device #2. If you wanted svideo, you'd setup an analog capture source as either device #1 or device #2.

You can set up another svide input if you need it (unlikely, as I assume its a STB feeding it)

But you need the hauppauge 10 pin cable to go onto the internal header.

Yeah, right now I have 2 STBs both going into one of the 2250 cards with s-video.

So each separate tuner then would be considered another board (Capture Device #n) within the "Direct Recording Device" configuration right? Was GBPVR just designed to show Capture Device #1-9 or do I have 9 options in the drop down for any specific reason?

Oh, and in the Source options, what is "S-Video 2, External Tuner"?

You can have up to nine tuners of one type in your machine. ie 4.5 HVR-2250s in the one machine.

Thanks for the info, that clears a lot of this up for me. I am still wondering what s-video 2 is referring to exactly.
