Hi.

I upgraded to Win7 and installed GBPVR v. 1.4.7. In XP I pulled in about 9 stations in HD. Image and sound were superb with my Avermedia Duet A188 card, but there were hardware detection problems in XP. There are no hardware detections problems in Win7.

Now, I am trying to configure in Win7. I am using a bda file that was recommended by Sub (thank you, Sub) for XP. When I configure Capture Sources, I can see both tuners in the Sources window.

Now I am Editing the capture source. I use Digital Recording Plugin as source, DVB-EPG Bradcast as EPG source.

When in Channel Mappings, I get the following error: GBPVR was unable to start the bda device you have configured. Reason: failed to locate configured BDA device. However, Win7 detects the card (visible in Device Mgr.)

Then, when in MVP&NVT, a red warning appears in the left corner:

Warning: The default dongle.bin is incompatible with Vista. Please see the forum for dongle recommendations.

Question: Is my problem a card detection problem or Win7, or the dongle? I am running the card on Avermedia's latest Win7 drivers.

Thanks, S.

Reproduce this, then post the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

Thank you again, Sub. Attached you'll find the 2 files requested. I mention that the OS is Win7 64.

I had to split config.exe.log into a and b due to its exceeding the 19.5 Kb attachment upload policy of the Forum.

Yours, S.

Can you run filtercheck.exe located in the GBPVR program folder and zip and attach the resulting filtercheck.log? It's possible that the filter names have changed with your driver version.

Also, zipping the log files before attaching them to your post will reduce the attachment size dramatically.

Yep, what he said. Run filtercheck then post the filtercheck.log.

It's very short, only 2KB. I see that the receivers are detected, but can't really interpret it.

Thanks again, S.

Do you have this in your bda.ini file? If not, then add it, and select it as your device type.

[AverMedia Duet A188 (type2)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=AVerMedia 716x BDA ATSC DC Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=AVerMedia 716x BDA Digital Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Yeah, I had the above lines in the file, except that (type2) and DC were missing. Now I am detecting quite a few OTA channels, however GBPVR doesn't remember configuration in the Config tool and when I configure again, the image is jerky and there's no sound. I used a slew of combinations between different choices of the same parameter when configuring parameters, but am getting the same results. Will experiment more. Image and sound used to be great in XP 32 on my HP w2207 monitor.
Thanks for your help, John.

You need AC3Filter installed for sound (or some other decoder capable of AC3 decoding). For the stuttering picture you may be getting a poor signal, or you need a different mpeg-2 decoder. I use the Microsoft DTV-DVD Decoder, but some people have had problems scanning with that decoder.

BTW, in your first post you said you selected the DVB-EPG Broadcast... that's not available in the USA (that is to say, the very limited broadcast EPG data that is available in the USA is not used by GB-PVR). You need to be using Schedules Direct or one of the XML options (most commonly MC2XML).
