As I understand it, what you're saying is that StartGBPVRX2 seems to cause such a spike in CPU usage that it halts network throughput, which then causes video playback and file copying to pause for a couple of seconds. If that's so, then there's something wrong as I've never experienced this, and no-one else has reported this as a problem.

Is CPU usage at the core of the problem? StartGBPVRX2 does nothing on the network - any file access is purely local, and then only to write to the startpvrx2.ini when a setting is changed.

Liteswap, your conclusion is more or less right but indeed the question is why this is happening on my system NVidia nForce 630/7150 all in one based motherboard Gigabyte GA-73UM-S2H running on XP SP3. I'll see if I can simulate the problem again on another computer hardware based system. Maybe there is something with the NVidia network drivers which don't like to be interrupted. The strange thing remains that I've never experienced such errors before and this system has been up and running now for more than 2 years without problems or network traffic drop outs. I'm a bit lost why and because of what this happens but I'll try do some testing in the weeks to come. BR

I suspect something else is interacting in a weird way with the utility, or maybe fighting its effort to refocus PVRX2, some other utility maybe?

Amoungst the several things that it does, it sends a screen wake command to the screen when waking up from standby although I thought that this precise problem only happened when the pc woke itself from standby rather than via the power button. Eitherways it's worth trying it.

This post by gED (in another thread) is intriguing, because I have been searching for a utility that will wake my screen when a recording or scheduled task resumes the system. However, I don't want to run the PVRx2 interface, which startPVRx2 does automatically. Does anyone have, or can you point out the commands for, a tiny app that will only perform the screen wake?

I have just experimented with PVRx2, and it does not wake my screen when the system is awakened by a scheduled task (such as a recording). Very sad, but true. There has got to be a way around such a simplistic little problem.

I think GBPVRWake does this - have a search of the GBPVR support thread...

Thanks. Actually, I found the "fullresume" utility, which seems to do the trick.
