Attached is a copy of mvpmcx2 designed to run with both NPVR and 1.4.7. Unfortunately sub ignored my requests to make a change that would have helped mvpmcx2 auto detect the version so you will need a to add a command line option --em-npvr to use NPVR. Any firewall rules will need to be changed too, you now need to allow NextPVR.exe and the NRecord.exe through the firewall.

Overall IMO NMT support is not ready to use as a primary client, but considering this is an early beta version sub has done a really good job of keeping NPVR's functionality and thing look good for the future. By far the biggest weaknesses come in video playback, the correct location in the file is not being used to calculate the internal timeline so navigation including seeking by time, resume and com skip can be questionable, (sh*tty).

Other than that, I have a continuing problem with files and livetv restarting. LiveTV processing has changed and I miss some of the features of 1.4.7 (programmed view) and being able to save LiveTV. Hopefully these will come before the beta is over since that will probably keep me on 1.4.7

The OSD alpha over video need to be corrected, what you are seeing know is a hack turned on with this command line. Unfortunately NPVR has not improved the OSD flicker problem, if anything right now it is worse the OSD seems to be sent more times than before. Sub mentioned at one time he might be able to do incremental updates, my fingers are crossed.

There's also a minor annoyance where the screen will go blank after video or when a screen saver comes off, just hit a remote key, it usually won't be frozen.

If you have any comments let me know. Basically mvpmcx2 has not changed, we are waiting for sub to finish NPVR

Also Don't forget to update the <MVP> section of config.xml with your <MAC-> section from
GBPVR's config.xml

Hi Martin.

Greatly appreciated that you are working hard to migrate with NPVR. Looking forward to testing.

That is indeed a weakness that is significant. I'll try it out hopefully tonight and see how bad it is. It's far more important to me that the OSD.

Martin, thank you for continuing work on mvpmcx2 to work with NPVR. I installed mvpmcx2 using CSI (and have been using is very successfully with GBPVR for many months now), I don't find a 'startmeup' file to add the command line option as suggested in the survival guide.

What/where is the appropriate file to edit to add the --em-npvr option with a CSI install? daemon.cgi?

So far with NPVR, I see the main screen, guide and recordings just fine, but get no video or audio when selecting a channel or attempting to play a recording.

Thanks

Brett

The CSI version doesn't provide --em-npvr support at this time. Unfortunately sub has refused to make the trivial change I requested that would make this implementation simple and I am working on firewall friendly solutions.

I expect the next release of NPVR will have much enhanced mvpmcx2 support though so I will be able to provide manual instructions when it is released.

I have updated the download in post #1 with a new version that uses better options 1.15.21 Sub has done a really good job tackling the problems, the major issues for me are annoyances and I now use it for most things.

- there are still blanks screens or partial screens after video and after returning from the screens saver
- the top clock is never reset and then screen saver time runs from when the service starts so NPVR will typically start with the screen saver on.
- no seeking in live tv.

Thanks ACTCMS, neither did I, at least I remembered to remove it before making the post or I could really have confused everyone.

I should note that --em-npvr is still a required command line option.

Hi Martin, referring to lairposts post, where do you add that option?

Thanks
