Hi,

I have a primary GBPVR server and a slave.

The slave can successfully:

Play music from the server
Play video from the server
Can see the tv guide.

When I select a program to watch from the tv guide; the tv show runs for approx 10 seconds and then returns to the tv guide.

I have found on the slave in a log file the following error:

2010-07-09 19:42:25.933 VERBOSE m_pD3DDev->Present() failed
Error code : 88760868
D3DERR_DEVICELOST
Device lost

Any advice appreciated.

Its normal to see that error message in pvrx2.exe-native.log when the application is closed, and it isnt the cause of the problem you're seeing (it happens later when you closed the app).

Is it a digital channel or analog channel? If digital, which mux filter are you using?

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt response.

Its all channels; which are freeview DTV channels so in answer to your question: Digital.

I am using ffdshow.

One more question: Is it normal to have a delay before the channel starts (with a black screen for upto 10 seconds)?

Thanks Again

What mux are you using? ie, the "BDA Multiplexer" setting in the config app.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach both the client and server logs and I'll take a look.

Yes, live tv over client/server is pretty crappy. Its not a feature that gets much development time or testing.

Hi,

Thanks for the offer to take a look at the logs for me.

I have attached the logs; two folders:

1. Server
2. Client

I cleared all the old logs out first, ran the test and then extracted the logs.

On the Client PC I used two channels:

BBC1 - Golf Open - This took a long time to load (black screen - but then worked ok).
BBC2 - Easter Enders - This channel would only run for 10 - 20 seconds then return to the TV Guide - I repeated this test multiple times.

Thanks Again

Your logs generally look ok. It might be related to the "DivX AAC Decoder" audio decoder that is showing up in your playback graphs. We've see this cause unexpected behaviour for other users in the past.

I'd also try swicthing from file sharing mode to streaming mode to see if it makes any difference.
