So, I re-imaged my drive to something cleaner and that image had things working fine. Now I'm getting the MKDIR: cannot create directory message. I know I've gotten this before and I know I've asked this before but can't seem to find the answer or my question via search.
It appears to be something minor but I can't put my finger on it. Other than start over, where should I be looking? By the way, where is the complete install for NPVR now?

Thanks

Paul

It is always a good idea to run NMT Syntax check and if you don't see anything copy and paste the contents into a message.

Seems I may have other problems as my PCH seems to want to go to sleep or something else after it's on for about 5 minutes. Screen goes black but you can still hear it working. Other than having NPVR problems with it, before it goes to black everything else seems to work fine.
The checker shows that the remote server returned an error NOT FOUND but my girly knowledge doesn't help me with that..................

The errors are good actually, they show the web server is returning something. You set up looks good too, the only thing I can think of at this point is you haven't opened NextPVR and NRecord up for TCP and UDP on your local LAN, or mvpmcx2 isn't in D:\mvpmc folder

Noise is normal depending on the services you have running on you PCH. Eventually the drive will spin down.

Thanks for the info Martin. I've got to run out but will double check what you suggest soon. Having simply re-imaged, I can't see how anything could have changed LAN wise. And, mvpmcx2 is in the d:\mvpmc folder.....dated 9/3/10.

I'm still not having any luck with this and am not sure what else to check. Firewall is not the problem, LAN settings I have confirmed are set for TCP and UDP for 8866.

Martin, I have a question regarding my post with the Syntax info and this:N-PVR Installed D:\Users\Public\NPVR
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/NETWORK_SHARE/MEGAPC:mvpmc/npvr.cgi">N-PVR</a>
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/NETWORK_SHARE/NETWORK_BROWSER/browser.cgi">N-PVR via Network Browser</a>
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/USB_DRIVE_A-1/mvpmc/usb_a.cgi">N-PVR via USB</a>

What does the 8883 mean and where does that come from? I've got no idea what that means.

8883 is a local http server on the PCH you can ignore it. You need to open ALL TCP and UDP there are several ports involved.

I tried Portchecker and it tells me port 8866 is locked when checking TCP but open for UDP. Says some other application has that port locked. Don't know what that could be. Actually, every port that I check, the UDP shows open but the TCP shows locked.
Odd that another system that I made no changes to also isn't working with the PCH. I don't know if I feel safe opening up all the ports. Never had to do that to get it to work before.

Thanks for your help Martin.

These are ports that sub uses so if you can't trust him on your local LAN be warned that my antivirus flags all sub's programs as potential key loggers and suspicious because it opens in debug mode.

Seriously the port ranges haven't changed since the MVP support I am just too lazy to search them out.

Perhaps you installed Windows Live Sign-In Assist,or Windows Live Essentials they are breaking samba sharing. You can always try running from a USB drive as another solution.

I saw your earlier post about Sign in Assist and I did up date WIndows Live but do not have that installed.
I downloaded PortQryUI and it shows 8866 as 'listening' so I just went in and changed NVPR from port 8866 to port 8867 and that worked. Part of me is very curious and I want to dig in and find out what the problem is since things were working so well for so long but life is too short and football is on the tube so if changing the port works, I'm good.

Thanks for not giving up and all your suggestions. I might give the USB part a try. I've never done that and am not 100% sure how but it may be something to play with.
