Paul rereading you post, media playback on web server port 8867 would be impossible unless you use undocumented command line switches.

Martin, you shouldn't be surprised when I tell you I don't know enough to use command line switches. What media playback should I not be able to do? Live TV, Recorded TV, video? I was able to use Live tv for a short time yesterday before I quit to watch a game. Most video files get stuck at the 'bufferring' logo. However, today, I was able to use port 8866 again. PFPortChecker shows it open again. Honestly, it doesn't matter all that much because NPVR and GBPVR on the PCH since my re-image has been hit and miss though the default ihome app works ok and I rarely use it to watch live tv. Many times, when I choose NPVR on the PCH, GBPVR pops up.
I should ask what other port besides 8866 should I try? Paul Custom ASUS Maximus X Hero, 16 GB Memory-ASUS GeForce 1050 Ti, H115i Pro AIO, 850W PS, CM H500P case, Corsair Vengeance RGB Ram, Samsung 970 EVO, HDHomerun Prime & Extend Tuners- running Windows 10 (and other goodies)

I understand things better now. Looking at your syntax check output, the reason you were able to play media was because you were using the GBPVR web server. You would not have been able to play LiveTV for more then ~7 minutes. It's simple fix, you cannot have both GBPVR and NPVR setup to run as MVP Servers on the same machine. Go into GBPVR config and turn off the MVP server, then stop the NPVR Recording service, kill all NextPVR tasks and restart the NPVR Recording service.

This seems to have helped a bit. System 2 is now working with NPVR and system 1 has to be stroked a bit. I get a few 'mkdir:cannot create director' messages but after trying 4 or 5 times, I can get NPVR working. And, if I reboot the PCH, the first time I try NPVR, it tries forever and doesn't work. But, after a few more tries, it works. Videos play but only after a very long buffer. Music plays fine and immediately. Not having much luck with Live tv either. I'm still working with it but just don't have lots of free time to play with it but should have some soon.

By systems do you have two PCH's or two NPVR servers? If it is two NPVR systems only one can have an MVP server running without a command line.

1 PCH, 2 NVPR servers.
Oddly, ever since NPVR has been out I've managed to have both systems each running both NPVR and GBPVR. Maybe that explains why it wasn't always 100%. Thanks for this info. I'll adjust things and try it with 1. Just so I can try, what commands do I need to have 2 NPVR servers running together? On the mvpmc share edit startmeup to include the server IP you want to talk to
/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 --emulate ##.##.##.## Martin

Seems like things ARE working better. I still can't go directly to live tv but I can use the guide to get to live tv and change channels that way. Live TV doesn't hang, nothing happens and after about 45 seconds, I am able to use the remote to move around the menu. Directly after trying Live TV, the menu is frozen while it obviously tries to connect.
This is ok for now. I've already had you working overtime and don't like the guilty feeling. Thanks. Don't feel quilty "Dancing with the Stars" is on and this gives me something to do. I just have to say "Yes Dear" every now and then. If I remember there were bug with the HKCU\Software\NPVR (maybe Software\Wow6432 ) settings at one time or another. You might need to fix this.

pcostanza Wrote:1 PCH, 2 NVPR servers.I have multiple GBPVR/NPVR servers too - the GBPVR wiki has a section on how to select the server you want to use (there is a nice 'How I did it' bit by Jaggy) - using it, I can switch between various NPVR and GBPVR servers - great for dev/testing... http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardware/NMT#toc18 |
