Hi

I my area of sweden I can watch both Swedish and Danish TV.

I'm in the process of moving to NPVR but I have the following problem.
Swedish television uses MPEG 2 SD, if I want to watch these channels I need to select EVR. If I use VMR9 I get a picture that is 2/3 of the correct size. This picture is offset up and left, the rest is "noise".

If I try to watch danish SD H264 I only get to view the top left part if I use EVR and get a correct picture I need to use VMR9. Watching the danish HD H264 channel works in EVR thou.

I use the CoreAVC decoder for decoding H264 and ffdshow for mpeg2. The PC used is an ION based Asrock 330HT

Try downloading HD Pack and switch to Cyberlink decoders.

I have downloaded HD Pack and tried the Cyberlink decoders, but no real improvement at some quick tests. I will do some more systematic test nexts weekend as I'm on a trip the coming week

XP SP3.
GBPVR is not up and running on this machine so I cant test if there are any differences, might try next weekend but I rather get NPVR running.

Video on XP can be tricky, but if none of the mentioned decoders gives smooth playback I'd suspect the graphic card. And even for XP 1 Gig of ram is a bit short so you might get paging activity, which again will destroy all chances for a smooth video experience. What cpu load do you see during playback?

Last time I checked 13% playing live 720p danish H264 channel. As long as Cuda is working I get very smooth video, I do have some audio stutter playing HD.

I need to update my signature :-) Some more details of my test system: Asrock 330 HT 1.6GHz atom with ION graphics. 2G (2*1G) memory and 320G disk. XP SP3 AverTV A850 and TerraTec T3 tuner.

Ah, I strongly suspect the ION graphics is the badguy , I have one motherboard with ION graphics and never got it working properly under XP, now with W7 it plays smoot but stutters badly when OSD is shown. I'd recomment getting a ASUS/ATI graphics card, 3450 or better.

I think the problem is the O/S, after all what is wrong with EVR? The ION and EVR and best on Win 7. Period. By trying to save the "Windows tax" on the ION you are making a mistake.

I have tested a little more and by using Cyberlink Video Decoder (PDVD10) for both MPEG2 and H264 gives smooth playback and sound on all channels (DIVX AAC decoder for HE-AAC sound). I still need to put some more runtime before that I can claim that it works, but it looks very good. The problems that I described in the beginning is completely gone.

Thanks Reddwarf for pointing me to the HD Pack, looks like I wont need to get GBPVR running on the Asrock 330.

Last but not least. Sub, thanks for all your hard work.
