1.5.36 can't use analog tuners, but 1.5.33 can.

Ever since I upgraded to 1.5.36, I can't use my analog tuners. I get a message like "Unale to comminucate with recording service." I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I shut the machine off & then restarted it. I tried disabling the devices in Device Manager & re-enabling them. I even tried installing 1.5.33 over 1.5.36, but it detected the newer files & didn't overwrite. I have a 2250, 1800 & 1600. The 2250 tuners are only used for QAM. The 1800 is only used for analog. The 1600 is used for QAM & analog.

The attached logs represent the following: I uninstalled. I installed 1.5.33 & watched a few minutes of random shows from an analog tuner. I exited, stopped the service & upgraded to 1.5.36 & tired to watch something.

looks llike something in the way the app SetCaptureResolution() [which is new to .36]
i forgot he added that to this version, will have to test myself but only have digital devices in this machine..

Meanwhile i have disabled nPVR on all machines; NRecord.exe is hammering my server with it's continous reboots of this service.

At least i can confirm, that NRecord.exe will be quiet, if i disable both Hauppauge! HVR-2200 in the devicemanager (and left the Cablestar HD 2 active). I hope you're right, so that sub can fix this problem.

FYI, my analog capturecard works ok with .36, so the problem does not affect all analog cards.

I've just connected up my HVR-2200 to try reproducing this problem, but it seems to be working for me.

Does it fail for you everytime on the 2200 or just sometimes?

This is a good question. I would say, that it runs perhaps a few seconds/minutes and then suddenly crashes. One movie could be recorded (at least 2 gigs), after this the recordingservice crashed again nonstop.

Something has changed in nPVR since 1.5.33 what is causing this one, but i don't know what this could be. Absolutely no idea anymore. Even a complete fresh reinstall didn't help. Disabling Microsoft Security Essentials didn't helped, disabling Malware detection didn't helped, disconnecting all nPVR Clients didn't helped.

I'm guessing its something do with the second analog tuner on your 2200.

Interesting. I tried only a short time, but if one hvr-2200 is running alone, then NRecord.exe don't crash. But... i'll test a longer time this condition. I am not sure when NRecord.exe the last time started to crash again all the time after disabling and reenabling both hvr-2200.
