Hi,
I've recently started using NPVR and think its the best PC based PVR I've used so far, nice and responsive and hasn't missed any recordings apart from when I have done something stupid Big Grin

I do have an issue with recordings from the BBC HD channel, on some programs when it gets to the boundary between the programs (ie it just finished telling you what you're supposed to be watching tomorrow night then starts the main program) the audio gets corrupted and starts sounding like pinky and perky. Sometimes stopping the recording or live TV stream and going back in will make it work but other times I cannot watch the reording at all. The other 3 HD channels are working perfectly, I assume it must be some kind of codec problem so if anyone knows a fix that would be helpful - I also get a much lower audio level produced from the BBC HD channel compared to BBC1 HD etc so assume it must be using a different codec somewhere.

The system I am using is an Acer Revo with Windows 7 64bit and a PCTV 290e stick on the HD side with two other Hauppauge tuners for SD.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks
Andy

There was some discussion about this in the past. I think it was to do with the HE-AAC decoder you're using not gracefully handling the audio switching from 2.0 to 5.1, or something like the that. I cant remember the exact details, but I think the DivX HE-AAC decoder coped with it better than the ArcSoft decoder?

I did hear there is a new Arcsoft decoder that is supposed to resolve the issue.

I don't suffer the high pitched audio, but do find the audio level is way down with BBC HD. (this on a PCH-A100).

Yes just make sure the latest Divx AAC decoder is installed [previous Divx AAC had "Pinky & Perky" aka "Chipmunks" sound when stream format changed.
BTW I have found that LAV Splitter/Audio Decoder now enable me to play NVPR UK HDTV recordings in ZoomPlayer where as Divx does not. However the recordings play with no sound in NPVR when HE-AAC is set to LAV ie I still need to use Divx AAC in NPVR.

The BBC HD channel we get here has AC3 audio (and works fine with AC3Filter).

I live in the UK and have a Popcorn A110 and a WDlive streamer.

I also use the AC3 filter on a WIn7 64 bit PC and have not experienced the Pinky and Perky sound on the BBC HD and BBC1 HD broadcasts.

However my wife and I have fond memories of watching the original Pinky and Perky show when we were children.
