Good thread, I just managed to read all of it, suspect it will be a much longer thread soon Big Grin

I guess the SageTV users are safe for now with a working system. Will be very interesting to see whether the might of google input is a hindrance or an asset. And exactly what direction they choose to take with their new acquisition!

v interesting Wink

Wow, never saw that coming. The economy has made many things happen. I assume Google is still being serious about google tv.

It's still a battle for the living room. Microsoft has ceded. It's Apple vs Google vs ? I wish Netflix would buy Roku and put together a kicka$$ STB, with DVR, streaming, local content, etc.... wait... I already have that!

It's easy to have mixed feelings about this. Clearly everyone needs to make a living, and Google have the means to make an offer the SageTV team can't refuse. HTPC PVR's are enthusiast products and not suited to the mass market and I just don't see it surviving. Historically I compare this to Winamp to AOL, Meeidio to Yahoo, and GBPVR to Wellton Way. The developers get something which they fully deserve, but it does hurt users in the end.

People still on GB-PVR are a lot like SageTV users, they are looking for their next PVR This is a really good time and challenge for sub to make the choice NextPVR

Martin, what I am intrigued by (not knowing much about Sage, but seeing that the biggest similarity between it and GB-PVR/NextPVR is the thin client/extender support?)

The Sage Extender device HD300 with what appears to be sigma 8655 chip. Is that essentially a SageTV branded Hauppauge MVP-HD? Or not at all? Does it have any relations to the PCH family? The A-200?

cheers
