Add me as another Sage user. For now I have a working setup that will last at least a year, hopefully longer using a different EPG source.

NextPVR looks promising. If the demand was there would there be any chance of at least looking into streaming to the HDx00 extenders? or are they just so totally different to make work?

Ding. Ding. Another SageTv user here. I dabbled with GBPvr back in they day. Things I like/need about SageTV:

HD extender support
Intelligent Recording (yes, I like it to pick out shows for me)
Ceton InfiniTV support (I just bought one two weeks ago)

Hi

Quote:HD extender support
We do support HD extenders, but they're all NMT A-100/A110 clones at this stage (PopcornHour, eGreat etc). There may be support for other extenders in the future though. Unfortunately it's usually not possible to just pick a peice of hardware and say 'ok, lets write an extender for that device'. The reality is that it quite often takes the hardware manufacturer to be on board with the project and supply information.

The app doesnt do this. It records what you tell it to record. I've never really be interested in adding an Intelligent Recording equivalent. That said, if some other developer is interested in adding this functionality, the APIs are all there for it.

The app doesnt have any built in cable card support at this stage. Whurlston is working on plugin that will hopefully enable recording of 'copy freely' shows sometime in the future.

From what I've read, the HDHomeRun Prime should also work for 'copy freely' channels when it's available (without needing Whurlston's plugin). I guess we wont know for sure until it's out though.

All I could give you on that is a solid "maybe". As I mentioned above, usually you'd need the hardware manufacturer to be providing information and support, but that is unlikely in this case. It doesnt mean it wouldnt be possible, but you'd have to be pretty lucky (ie, find they're using the same Sigma SDK you already have etc).

To me one problem with streaming to the Sage HDx00 extenders is there are 3 different hardware versions, also if you don't have enough extenders for SageTV now, then you won't have enough for NPVR either. I saw reference to the WD TV Live plus on the Sage website as a possible option, same Sigma chip as the newest HD300 and a price of less than $100 U.S. , there is also an active community for people who want to modify it.

One thing to keep in mind for everyone who is looking to migrate from SageTV, a lot of the features of SageTV that you like so much were implemented because you as users wanted those features and pushed requests to get them. But also remember that those feature were not implemented overnight.

If NextPVR doesn't have something you want, it could just be because none of the current NextPVR users (or plugin developers) have been interested in them before. As a general rule with any program, the more a feature is requested, the more likely it is to be implemented in the core or in a plugin. The converse is also true.

So if something is missing that you want, we do have a wishlist forum. Wink

Original GBPVR/MVP user here, went to SageTV for the more advanced extender support, and now coming back to NPVR.

Wouldn't mind replacing HDx00's with NMT's if I have to down the road.

One of the nice (but expensive Wink ) things about the HDx00's is that Sage was always coming out with newer and more powerful (faster) extenders.

Does NPVR/Sub have any plans to support any of the newer NMT's in the future??

Good to see you again.

Martin and I have been talking about some options, but nothing concrete to tell at this stage. I'm sure we will see other options in the future though.

Another SageTV refugee user here.

Hello NPVR users,

I used GBPVR many years ago on an MVP, I think it was one of the first versions, anyway I'm back for another go.

Cheers,

David
