I tried on both my VM and the host machine. I did a bunch of stuff after doing the test on host machine, I was trying to put it back as my NPVR server however I started getting can't not connect to capture device, I thought maybe the pluggin was causing problems so I removed it then started getting an error pop up. I can put the plugin back and try again on the host if you'd like. I didn't show carrier lock, do you think that would have cause the test to not do anything or maybe that I have the networkrecorder+SageDCT pluggin also installed.

Ok, it's showing that when I request the OOB table sections, only tuner #1 responds so that's the one we'll need to use for the test (the same thing happened with Paul's in a previous test if I recall correctly). That's an issue I'll address later. The other problem is that it is taking 2+ minutes for the table sections to be retrieved. According to the spec, the tables should be sent within about 5 seconds of the request but the device is not doing that. Did you restart the device by any chance? If so, you may need to just start NPVR then let it run for 10-15 minutes and then try going into the capture source (Tuner #1).

If there is no carrier lock, then it won't get the table sections.

I just happen to be try to test on tuner #1(I don't think I even opened the devices for the other tuners) since it's the other 3 are being used by 7MC on HTPC and it's the one I've been using lately for networkrecorder testing on NPVR. According to the Ceton diagnostics cablecard hasn't received validation signal(I'll have to take a look at the ATI DCT to see what is says) and like most FiOS customers my card isn't paired, but since everything is copy freely it doesn't cause issues. The only thing I restarted was NPVR servers, the other tuners need to be available for scheduled recordings by the 7MC machine tonight.

Ok, I just checked the other tuners they sure don't show the channels.

If you want you can stop the SageDCT service and go into NetworkRecorder and untick Enabled to take them out the equation.

Ah sorry. My head is in too many places right now. I was thinking you weren't seeing the channels.

I'll add some more logging to see where the breakdown is when trying to tune the channel and collect the debug info. I may not get it done tonight though.

@Martin I'll give that a try when I run the next test.

@Whurlston, yeah I selected all the channels as you requested minus VOD(for some reason it didn't show in the lineup) it just didn't show any progress on either machine.

whurlston Wrote:@lovemyram4x4: you should see the progress bar start to move within seconds. Can you post your logs?

@Paul: These two lines show that it's still loading the old version of the files:
Code:
    Line 770: 2011-09-19 22:19:09.631    [DEBUG][1]    DCTScanning: Received STT table.
    Line 1197: 2011-09-19 22:25:09.688    [DEBUG][1]    DCTScanning: dumping tables:
This version doesn't do that. Make sure that the recording service is stopped and that the tray app is closed before replacing the new files.

Edit: the ATI log looks good.
Another big DUH! for me. Since I had already worked with you on this, I still had the old version on my desktop and when I downloaded the new one, I still used the old one. <slow down Paul>
I'll run a full scan and send it to you later. As thought, it does not show any channels and is taking some time to complete the scan. If not this morning, I'll definitely have something for you after work.

I tried it out with my DCR-2650 on Windows 7 (64-bit) with a Motorola Cablecard and Comcast service. The logfile is attached.

A few notes:

  1. The Carrier Lock was never checked. (However, the device itself shows that it is activated and paired.)
  2. When I would go into the Device Setup for either tuner 0 or tuner 1 initially, there were no channels populated.
  3. After I clicked the "Test" button once, then both the tuners had channels listed.
  4. On each tuner, I tried selecting channel 2 which is a local broadcast channel, and clear QAM. When the clicking the "Test" button, it would access the device (flashing the tuner activity light on the DCR-2650), but never displayed any results.
  5. After clicking the "Test" button, the others would gray out and the label would change to "Cancel". The label never went back to "Test" and the other buttons never became active again. I had to close the window with the "X" in the upper right corner.

Thanks, looks like I definitely need more logging to see what's going on.

RE #5: Stupid error on my part. I noticed the problem after I posted the build. I've already fixed it in my code.

I'll test again with future versions.
