If he can access the file it is not a network problem, either splitter or decoder problem.

Even if it's a wired connection, there's always the possibility of something causing a slow transmition speed. I haven't had any problems with the decoders mentioned, so I don't see the need to drop more codecs in the mix, without first confirming that the network share is not the real bottleneck.

definately not a network issue.
The line is 1GBit & the NAS = 1Gbit aswell on cisco switch. I find no errors on switch port and the performance is great. I play blueray & dvd5/9 from same location without an issue. Chipset = Intel 5 series/3400 series Video = Intel HD Lan = Realtek

Hi guys
(sorry, was away a project, without my media player) First, thanks for all your searches, replies & suggestions! The problem is resolved: hint of shiningdragon did the trick. The f*cking "green ethernet" was enabled. I disabled the shit and as a result my DIVX/XVID worked perfect. Strange it started occuring so "suddenly". Actually, after the latest 2.2.6 patches the problems started. Thanks guys !
