I am trying out NextPVR as an alternative to SageTV but having problems setting up a HDX-1000.

With my current settings it sometimes works and brings up the main menu, when it works I am able to navigate to a recording or video which plays for about 10 seconds and then I end up with a blank screen.
The main menu will not always display at startup but the NextPVR logs show the remote control commands are detected.

The HDX-1000 will play back videos in its own interface through the shares without any problems.

Are there any settings which might be causing this problem?
I have attached the logs and the results from the NMT checker utility.

Those do look ok, but I see the web server socket close after 14 seconds leading me to think that it is might be something like memory. If you have have an internal hard disk use the NMT menu's to clear cache.

If that isn't it, I'd check firewall and permissions. Does that file play ok from the C: drive if H: is a share? If not I'd like to get a 20MB sample to see if it is the file itself (there is a cutchunk utility on the wiki)

I can play a recorded file dropped in C:\mvpmc without problems.
I had removed the hard disc as it was running very hot with it in, i have now added it back but cant find the menu option to clear the cache. I had also updated the firmware which seems to have removed the NMT applications, are these required?

I meant to clarify can you play from the C drive via the NextPVR interface. NMT apps aren't required, in fact they can slow things down, but they are firmware version specific so they will need to be re-added if you want any of them.

From the NMT wiki Press 'filemode' in the Setup>Maintenance screen to "Clear Cache"

I attempted to clear the cache and "Clear Cache" appeared on the screen but the NMT locked up and i had to power it down, i tried this 3 times with the same result. I have now removed the hard disk again as it gets very hot. Without the hard disk "Clear Cache" appears on the screen but does not seem to finish and stays on the screen but without locking the NMT up, I can then return to the home page but i'm not sure if worked or not.

The NextPVR interface sometimes loads but soon turns into a blank screen even without attempting to play a video.

Can you think of anything else i can try?

The cache only impact the hard disk. If the interface only sometimes loads that I would certainly expect that it is a firewall problem. Make sure you don't use the browser method, always use the first option.

In the MVP section there is an extended logging option you can also try that and send me some logs, you'd need to stop and start the recording service, but I'd focus on the firewall.

I switched the Windows firewall and my AV software off but still no change, are there any router settings required?

No configuration of your switch is necessary. I would ensure that you have a config.xml entry for your MAC address and try again, and provide me with the logs, and the startmeup fiile from the mvpmc share.

Here are the logs, I have not had the main menu appear during this testing so the logs probably dont contain much data.

Not a lot of information but I see a few things that I find odd, the most important one is that startmeup is running mvpmcx2 twice and simultaneously. You should comment out (add the # before the second run of it with --frequency command prompt).

The other issue is that for whatever reason NMTSystem check is not determining the machine's MAC address. I am not sure if this is a bug in the syntax check but normally it does show up on other peoples logs. If you are using some sort of bridge on your network you could have a problem especially if you have different sub-nets.
