I don't get it steeb, you claim the forum is dull and boring but complained when sub added "flash" (ads) to it. Smile

Seriously though, it's a forum! And as a forum, I think it is the perfect balance of form and functionality. MS "updated" the look of Green Button forum when they purchased it. The result: people hated it, left in droves and they formed a new forum website. MediaPortal updated their look a few years ago, I don't care for it and quit browsing it. AVS updated their forum look. I hate it and hardly go there as much as I did. In all instances, functionality was lost to the improved look which undermines the purpose of a forum.

I always internally moan and groan when browsing some of the many forums I belong to and they "update" things.
Sidebars, topbars, scrolly bits..... They all tend to reduce information space. I don't like it.
Who cares if the forum is dry and dull - the subject probably is anyway, software support certainly is.

For similar reasons, I'm not easily convinced that a flashy (lowercase f) interface is required for npvr. Function over form for me every day.
Getting as much EPG info on the screen is my target.
I guess you can tell I'm a boring old ancient git. Wink

I like the forums.
I'm stuck on IE behind a finiky firewall at work & my old laptop isn't too fast.
So both are sluggish on other forums with a lot going on.

It was worth a shot!

And sub you ain't no dinosaur!

As usual it is only the big hitters that have deemed to reply and as usual their input is most valuable.

But where are the little voices? Those are the ones that I wish had tweeted Big Grin

cheers all

I'll be a little voice. I like things simple. Doesn't mean I can't take change but change for a good reason. I find the forum friendly and easy to move around. Most of the ones I frequent are very similar to this one and I like it.

Thank you Paul with little voice and warm heart.

I would still be very interested to see what the new community feel about this. Such as what appear to be such radical changes? But are not really...

I am very chessboard in the way I work. Ultimately it comes down to 2 teams/players but with so many choices.......

I was simply suggesting a new forum look and feel. But there is massivre dis-agreement to this from hardy forum members.

Personally I find this lacking in a resolvement to change and shift. But as usual I will back down and go with the flow. Though am sure again this will come up again in a few weeks/months and then I will have to bring up again, again, again...

cheers

I absolutely love the look & feel of this forum, none better. There is nothing I hate more than those sites that try to cute it up with cartoon talk balloons and other nonsense.

Like others have posted, I can't imagine what you want changed.

Martin. what I would like to see is a more dynamic forum, taking on the changes that are happening outside of the box that I sit in. But as no-one wants this I am very willing to scuttle away and just enjoy this software as it is.

I find it depressing that only the big posters are talking about this on this thread.

I know loads of peeps are trying it out. que sera sera.....
