Use of the Showshifter mux:
Found: ShowShifter MPEG PS Writer
FILE: C:\Program Files\Home Media Networks Limited\ShowShifter\MpegWriter.ax
VERSION: 3.12.0.2945

causes the recording service to lock up completely whenever any recording is attempted.

Then, when attempting to restart the service I get the following error:

An unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the

application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the

application will be shut down immediately.

Cannot stop GB-PVR Recording Service service on computer '.'.

Details:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

The only version of the show shifter mux I've tried is v3.10.0.2824.

Gaaahh!!!!

Oh come on Sub, are you sure you can't even provide us with the SS ones? I got that mux in the SS demo which is freely downloadable from their website, after all.

No, I cant supply these. Sorry, but I have to try to keep the project legal.

I know this whole mux thing is a big hassle, but its out of my control. If GB-PVR was a commercial project, I'd license these components from Cyberlink and be able include the mux directly in the install, and expect support from them for problems, but its thats not the case so we just have to make do.

Can you email your GB-PVR logs to me at support@devnz.com? I want to see if there is anything obvious causing this problem with this newer showshifter mux filter.

Nah, I'm not going there.

GB-PVR has SBE/DVR-MS support last year, but I made the decision to go with standard MPEG2 files instead. I'm definitly not going back.

Are you sure? I somehow doubt it. I know Cyberlink charge the big $$$ to license their filters, so I doubt they'd allow them to ship them for free.

Its in the CVS. I got mine from mediaportal-cvs-07-01-2005--01-38. I just downloaded the latest cvs and it is missing. Its part of the burner plugin though described here In this link there is the location of where to get the mux from. I have not installed 1.3.0. I think they have the burner plugin as standard now. Its called My TV: Compress. From the product description "Compress your DVR-MS files to mpg, xvid or WMV"

OK, fair enough. Any chance you could PM frodo any ask him who I need to ask to get permission to distribute the Cyberlink Mux with GB-PVR? I dont have an account on the mediaportal forums, otherwise I'd do it myself.
