Firewall exceptions need to be created for NextPVR.exe, NRecord.exe and NDigitalHost.exe. You might be using Windows Firewall or your anti-virus software's firewall. (Using both at the same time is generally not recommended.)
You can set the directory where recordings are stored to any place you wish under Settings - Recording. I created a new folder in C:\Users\Public called NPVR Recordings. (Media Center's folder is named Recorded TV.)
You guys are AMAZING!.... I'm only using Windows Firewall. After adding NRecord.exe and NDigitalHost.exe almost EVERYTHING is working now. I was able to record a 13 minute video file from a channel.
I am now also able to see a live TV channel on NPVR (so the BLACK SCREEN is gone), switch channels, etc... This is GREAT ! EXCEPT I am not getting any sound when watching Live TV on NPVR. Is this another codec problem?
Sounds good! If your channels are all digital, then Hauppauge AC3 Decoder is probably the one doing all the work. With a channel playing, you can right-click and move mouse pointer to Audio Stream to verify.
Problem solved.... Changed the Audio Output in XBMC to ANALOG - don't know how it was set to HDMI..... WOW so now I have NVPR, WinTV, Windows Media Center AND XBMC working on one PC... OK, now I'm quitting while I'm ahead :O)
I'm watching ONE channel on XBMC on one tuner and recording another channel on Windows Media Center (a subscription/pay channel) on the other tuner - AWESOME !!!!!!!!
