No sound

Could some one please help me. I have following system

Ati 650 tuner,windows 7 os,alc on board chip for sound.
sound works o.k playing you tube videos In the decoders
every thing is set what is in the drop down menu. ie
ms dtv-dvd for video and audio.I get very good picture but no sound.
When i run live tv inWMC , the sound is fine. What am i missing.

Hi. Here in the U.S. all digital channels seem to use AC3 audio. I'm not certain about Canada; but while watching a silent channel you can determine this by right-clicking and moving mouse pointer down to Audio Stream. Microsoft's audio decoder won't work with NPVR to provide AC3, so you should install AC3Filter (http://ac3filter.net/), a free download that also supports MPEG1 audio if you need it.

The 'Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder' is intentionally knobbled by Microsoft to only be capable of MPEG1 Layer II audio in 3rd party apps (like NextPVR). So, you can select it for MPEG1 Layer II, but don't select it for AC3 and other audio formats.

As Zeb said above, try AC3Filter or some other decoder for AC3.
