HI there,

Wondered if I could setup an EPG (say XMLTVNZ) without having a TV card installed.

I've got XMLTVNZ and finally got it to fire with a .bat file but I don't know how, or even if I can, integrate it into GBPVR so I can have a play with it as a GUI.

Thx.

yes you can, just configure any capture card you want, you just wont be able to use that card (of course), but you'll be able to access the tv guide (ive done this for testing purposes in the past).

Reven - I got the cature card selected (even though I don't have one)

I have chosen the xmltv plugin - then selected settings and pointed at "myxmlfile.xml" within the XMLTVNZ directory.

Is this correct?

I finally got a .bat file setup with the default script and running it opens a DOS window and it starts running through a list of stuff. Is it meant to run slow (it does on my system)

WHat happens to this info (Where is it stored? In the "myxmlfile.xml" file.?

Thx

Ahh...right! I've got it sorted out. I had to wait for the xmlgrabber to finish its grabbing before it wrote it to the xml file (almost took 2 hours - is this normal on a fast connection??).
Then the EPG finally updated in GBPVR (cool!) and finally I had an EPG to play with Big Grin

Next questions -

1 - Does XMLTVNZ (if its updated everyday) download all the info again (currently D/L 7 days), or only the info pertaining to the next day (day 8)?

2 - Does XMLTVNZ update any info that has changed?

3 - I guess XMLTVNZ has to run its course first before GBPVR runs to update the EPG - as I figured GBPVR only updates the EPG from the xml file produced by the grabber - Is this right?

4 - How do I get a .bat file to run XMLTVNZ everyday and where do I install it? Can anyone offer a script to do this?

Getting the EPG in GBPVR was one of the biggest buzzes yet.

the first time you run it for sky, it downloads over 4000 webpages, which is about 40megs all up, and plus processes time, yeah thats normal.

nope, it saves the past days in the .soap files, so you just have to download the new days.

Quote:2 - Does XMLTVNZ update any info that has changed?
nope, which is good where gbpvr is concerned, otherwise when gbpvr re reads the xmltv file and two shows are listed, both shows will be added (well the new show is added but the old shows remains) so you get double ups.

yup

Quote:4 - How do I get a .bat file to run XMLTVNZ everyday and where do I install it? Can anyone offer a script to do this?
just add it to windows scheduled tasks.

Sorry about the double post.

Yeah...I took a snort of drixine and it seemed to clear out my brain Smile

Finally...I seem to be getting the hang of things.

Thanks for the punt of the scheduler. I've never used it for anything (acutally got it turned off) so now I can sort that out.

Thanks Reven - you've been excellent help and I really appreciate it.
