4.0.4 Skips Hang Playback

I noticed with the new release that my playback will hang sometimes when I do multiple skips in quick succession, as I do when skipping thru commercials. I don't remember this happening with the previous release.
If you look at the logs I had a hang with "Grantchester".

I should have mentioned that the hang problem happens with the new Reader/Demux ticked or unticked.

same here, sometimes you can skip out of it hanging, but sometimes not.. new or old reader..
sometimes it's a black screen, sometimes last good frame shows. only after skips..

also when using new ts reader, after skip the video seems to skip too far ahead, and then after about 10-15 secs of out of lipsync, the video pauses for audio to catch up..audio never has discontinuity... some skips are perfect, some hang, some are out of sync for a few secs...

I have also noticed the video/audio out of sync problem.

Running 404 and just had a hang while watching a recording. Pressed the stop button, selected the show again and the UI froze. Had to force NPVR to close and restart it. Logs from right after restarting NPVR attached. I hope they're helpful.

Does that video hang in the same place each time?

Sorry that I wasn't clear. It didn't just stop playing at a random location, it hung when I pressed skip, it's also hung when I press pause in Live TV. Live TV sometimes hangs now if I just press the "go back" button on my Harmony 600 remote. That function usually will stop Live TV and return to the guide. These hangs only started after the 4.0.4 upgrade.

Perhaps it's because I installed the upgrade in the past? You posted it on July 23rd in New Zealand, but I installed it on July 22 in the US.

Noticed a glitch when I record two programs back to back on the same OTA channel and same tuner with two minutes pre and post padding. During playback when the first recording reaches the time the second recording starts it skips back a second or two and replays. Second recording is unaffected by first recording ending. More noticeable in MPC than VLC. Audio stays in sync. Happens with the new Reader/Demux ticked or unticked.

Ran the recording through AVS Video Editor and the glitch shows up as a skip forward rather then a rewind and audio is severely out of sync after that. If I edit out the glitch audio stays in sync.

Reverted to previous version and recordings and recodes are fine.

oh and one more thing, the new tsreader doesn't play in-progress recordings properly, timeline updates, but you can't skip past the 'live' point you came in on..
playback past initial 'live' point is fine, but skips bring you back to where it was 'live' when you started watching..

the old reader does this fine..

i just had it lock up on me by just watching...no skips...old reader...ouch
on an in-progress recording..
had to kill player process
