4.0.4 Skips Hang Playback

oops..spoke too soon...in-progress now not allowing skips past initial live point..does keep proper resume point tho..lol
correction...skipping on in-progress works at start of video...but after some point it ceases to work..

If I start playing an in-progress recording ... skips after the point at which I started viewing fail. For example, a recording is scheduled to record for 60 minutes. I start playing when the recording has been in progress for 30 minutes. The playback happily plays to 40 minutes but if I then skip, the recording goes back to 30 minutes (ish) and repeated pressing of the skip button just brings me to the same point in the recording. Stop and Resume fixes it and skips work as expected.

The skip went haywire and the playback was restarted at about 19.17 in the attached.

I decided to give this newer TSReader a try, and I figured I should report that with this version of TSReader, I see random issues with rewind/fast forward and pause. Sometimes when resuming from pause, the audio stays muted. And sometimes when rewinding, fast forwarding, when normal playback (should) starts, playback speed is faster or slower than normal. I don't see any of these issues with the previous TSreader from this thread.

The 2nd patch actually made things worse here. I could no longer watch Live TV or even play an In-Progress Recording. Just got a black screen, with no audio.

Last night I installed the latest version of 4.0.4 (7/31) and things are working much better. Only had one hang-on-skip in about 3 hours. I noticed that it happened when the manual skip-point jumps over an existing Comskip skip-point. Perhaps the double-skip is tripping something up?

I'v seen this too, but if I stop and resume playback it normally resumes at the correct point, do you see the same?

Yes, when it does it it takes out the program entirely so I restart the recording service and or in the extremes have to restart the NPVR service or reboot. But when I restart the video it will have remembered where it crashed.

Has anyone else noticed it matters what skin you are using as to the problems you are having? If I go vertical default skin.. ff will kick me to a windowed version of the program. Show settings from the task bar icon will murder the program as well.

Decided to post this here instead of opening a new thread.

Updated to version 4.4.04(170731). Playing a recorded ts file on the server. TV show is 30 minutes long, 720P, MPEG2. Forward skip is set to 60 seconds. Start playing video from beginning and wait approximately 1-minute before 1 skip.

Lav video results.
After hitting the skip button, no video or audio for approximately 1:03. At which point video and audio starts to play. Audio seems to be playing at normal speed. However video is play at some kind of Fast Forward. After 1-3 seconds, video starts to play in slow motion. Audio has continued to play at normal speed. Audio and video eventually gets into sync after about 1 minute. I let video play for about another minute and then hit skip. On the 2nd skip, it take about 1:50 for video and audio to start playing. Again, audio appears to be playing at normal speed but the video is going fast up and then slows down. After a good 2-minutes video and audio get back in sync. I play another 1-minute of the video and hit skip. For the 3rd skip, it takes about 3:30 seconds for the audio and video to start playing again. Same thing as before except it takes a really long time for the audio and video to get back in sync. While waiting for the video/audio to get back in sync (3rd skip) I noticed that the time line remained frozen until the video and audio got back in sync.

Repeated test. 1st skip took about 48 seconds till audio/video play started. Audio/video in sync at start. 2nd and succeeding skips are instantaneous and audio/video start in sync.

that latest patch broke [black screen h264]Cyberlink decode only for me...ms decoder worked..albeit with said issues.

After a refresh of Windows I reinstalled 4_0_4_170731 fresh. Once I got it all set back up and working we sat down to watch some records. The first show played fine, ff skip worked fine. The second show (Ninja warrior) played fine until an hour and 59 minutes, then it started hopping back to an earlier point and everytime we tried to jump it forward, it went back to that same spot. I closed the show and opened it at 22:27:31.178 and it remembered where it was and played that last minute just fine. So we went on to show #3 and about half way through that one it dropped me to a tiny windowed version which will not go back to full screen. When you try you see the shows list and if you click it back on .. it comes back windowed. We watched that last show in the windowed version... (midnight texas). After we were done I closed the program and reopened it and it is back to the full screen version.

I had debug turned on so Im sending you the log entry from that time period. I can send you the whole folder if ya need it

I am also having similar problems with 4_0_4_170731 as other users have discussed.

After updating to 170731 double check: Settings | Decoders | Use legacy NPVR TS Reader and Microsoft Demultiplexer. I found that on some of may machines that setting was now ticked(checked) after running the update.

So after running the update make sure that this setting is what you want it to be.

I would also make sure that /Program Files (x86)/NPVR/NPVRTSReader4.ax has a time stamp of 07/30/2017 8:11 PM.
