4.0.4 Skips Hang Playback

so far so good, i have recordings coming in 15 mins so will be testing with those too..

but so far i've tested it, exited and came back in and all was good, several times already...
i'll see how it goes on a baseball game later tonite, it'll be mpg2 and almost 4 hours..a good test.

oh and still problems starting mpeg2 channels sometimes..usually just the first try..
after you get one going they all seem to start fine first try..

cool, 30 mins into a show and all is well..
seems fixed for hdpvr too... but if you get too close to live on hdpvr, it freezes...a quick skip back gets it going again..
can't come within 10 secs of live or freeze..other than that in-progress is working for it too..

on the pc client, it works for mpeg2 sd only, hd is choppy even on old files..buffer size?
everything else works great, solved the in-progress issue there too..

one side note: i notice that cyberlink recovers better than ms decoder..sometimes when skipping, ms decoder [mpeg2] will freeze display even tho audio continues and skipping is possible..like video frame gets stuck and can't move on..not so with cyberlink decoder..it recovers after a sec or two..

I'd only really have hoped for this build to improve the in-progress recording playback problem you mentioned. Thankfully it sounds like I've taken care of that now.

I'll take a look at the buffering for client mode to see if I can improve that.

Actually... on the client can you create a c:\temp directory, and set LogClientStream=1 (DWORD), and try watching one of those high bitrate channels, then post the c:\temp\client.txt?

hmm,i think i viewed channel, it was jerky, like it plays a half second, then pauses a half second, then plays half second,etc...
here's another where i just played channel with the choppiness, then exited...

if you pause for sec or 2, it'll play smooth for a few secs then back to choppy..[i didn't pause this go around]

mpeg2 is playing fine from file with latest updates..this is just livetv and i believe in-progress having choppiness.

hmm, my npvr just popped up a msg "PES too large size:786432" while playing an mpeg2 channel...was playing fine...it continues to play fine after hitting ok.
[this is on server machine]

has happened several times, always same number...occurs mostly when weather radar graphics fill the screen..[maybe really high bitrate as it's computer graphics that are locally generated and never compressed..live] possibly outside of normal atsc spec but also maybe just pegging it out..or their mux can't handle it..

Also seeing the "PES too large size:786432" message here with the latest patch from this thread. Like pBS, it seems to happen mostly when there are full screen weather radar graphics in motion, so basically, every pixel on the screen is changing with every new frame.
