I've run into a problem with the current release.

I attempted to watch an in-progress 1 hour recording this evening, about 30 minutes into it. I ran into difficulty when I tried to skip forward past the opening commercials... it wouldn't skip and the time on the on-screen timeline showed it was just seconds in length. I checked the file it was writing to, thinking that perhaps it didn't start on time, but it a bit of a gig in size, appropriate for 30 minutes of video. It seemed to be recording fine but the timeline was inaccurate.

Additionally, anytime I interrupted the playback with a button press like pause, FF or stop, the app would seem to freeze about 20 seconds. When control returned the timeline would be updated about the same amount of time (though it seemed like a little more) and I'd get to a place where I could skip a minute or so forward. Again, pressing skip would end up causing the system to hang for about 20 - 30 seconds, but then would continue.

No errors or anything in the logs, though there are several places with 15-30 second delays in-between calls to SetPlaybackRate(). Perhaps those are my attempts to FF since I couldn't skip. I tried to post the log but it was too big. If you're interested I'll email it to you.

This is the first time I encountered this error with any release. Playback otherwise was fine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tim

I think you were just unlucky. Some people have always had these types of problems. There were no changes in this area of the application in this release.

You get used to stop and restart .... 8-((
This is still my only problem with gbpvr and the mvp, everything else works like a charm (with high WAF).

Ugh... that's not good. I'll just cross my fingers and hope it goes away when I install 94.8. But if it doesn't, is there any commonality among those that have this trouble? Do you have any idea what causes it... specific cards, drivers, decoders... anything?

While I did just notice it with this release it's possible it's been a problem for me since I bought my pvr150 a couple weeks ago since I'm not sure that I've tried it since then. I never had any trouble with my 250 and gbpvr. Is that somehow related?

Darn... I loved being able to jump into a show late and then skip past the commercials to get caught up.

I had this problem right from the beginning (December 2004). Live-Tv always worked, only watching a scheduled recording brings the troubles when I want to skip the commercials.
My configuration seems to be similar to yours: I started with a PVR250 and added a PVR150 a month ago.
Is anybody out there, where this is working? Or is this a problem for some of us Sad

I had problems with FF and I do not use it now. I use the skip instead. Are you defraging your drive everyday? When my defrag script stopped working I got this kind of problem. If the file system is badly fragmented it writes the file all over the place and when you goto play it the head needs to move alot to assemble the file. You could also try running taskmgr up and leave it running in the background and try skipping around the vidio file. If you have file read problems the cpu will hit 100% and the waitiIO will hit the roof aswell.

I was using FF only because skip wasn't working, which is the real problem anyway. The program timeline isn't showing the correct length of time for the in-progress recording so I couldn't skip. Defragged or not, this shouldn't happen.

However, I will try defragging to see if that reduces the amount of time it takes for control to return to me after pressing a button on the remote. Thanks for the suggestion... it has been a while.
