Dear Forum,

First of all, thank you for the excellent GBPVR. I used to run something called myhtpc a while back that was similar, that one vanished and now GBPVR replaces it with brilliance!

The question:

Is it possible to use another codec than the elecard one when processing to xvid? If so, please let me know. If I understand it correctly it's the de-coder codec that is being used when processing to divx (?) and on my machine I already have the Hauppauge codecs (InterVideo NonCSS) and the PowerDVD codecs as well (Cyberlink). Could it be possible to change from the elecard ones to one of these to be able to get rid of the dreaded elecard logo that appears on the xvids.

Grateful for any answer!

If you dont have the elecard decoder installed on your machine, then it'll use whatever the default MPEG2 decoder is (in your case probably Intervideo or Cyberlink)....BUT keep in mind most MPEG2 decoders seem to generate media samples that the xvid encoder does not like. I dont know whether the Intervideo or Cyberlink will work, you'll just have to try. The reason I recommend the elecard one, is that it is known to generate good media samples.

Thank you for the swift reply!

I picked the codecs that came with my card and I would just like to tell anyone that has the same setup (Haupauge PVR 250) that those codecs works fine for automated xvid (Koepi build 1.03). Just set playback to the Intervideo NonCSS codecs and the processing to xvid and record something, it will automatically convert from mpeg to xvid (1 pass conversion) and works real well!

Card: Hauppauge PVR 250
Codecs: Intervideo NonCSS (came with drivers for the 250)
xvid: Koepis build 1.03

The next question that arises is if a two pass xvid conversion can be done?

Humperdinck,

What audio codec did you choose in config? I have a pvr-250 and I choose both the Intervideo NonCSS video decoder and Intervideo NonCSS Audio decoder with Koepi's XviD 1.03-20122004 but I get an AVI with no audio. If I change the audio decoder to MPEG audio encoder or Cyberlink Audio encoder, I get an AVI with audio but it's out of synch with the video.

What versions of the of the Intervideo Codecs to you have? Can you post the log of a successfull conversion?

The Intervideo decoder version I have is 4.0.21154

Thanks in advance.

I "believe" the Intervideo CSS ones are installed by the MVP Software.

I uninstalled them and installed WInDVD Creator (or WinDVD) and it isntalls the ones marked simply "Intervideo".

I don't have a MVP. Perhaps the MVP and the 250 share some of the same software.

I downloaded the newset Hauppauge MPEG decoder files.

hcwsmd05_23017.exe

Now I'm not getting anymore synching issues although I still get no audio when using the Intervideo Audio decoders so I'm currently using "MPEG Audio Decoder" which works fine. Oddly enough, after the new files were installed I was able to get clean audio and video avi's using both the intervideo video decoder and Decsaler5. I plan to doing some more testing to find out why this is. However, while manually converting works, converting from inside GBPVR creates a file with no audio and all the settings were the same. The only error I can find it this:

04:33:25.234 VERBOSE FindFilterByName(GB-PVR Parser)
04:33:25.328 VERBOSE pMoniker->BindToObject() failed: 80040154
04:33:25.328 ERROR FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: GB-PVR Parser

Oops, sorry about that, they disappeared on my filter list when I uninstalled the Hauppage MVP s/w. I guess it makes sense that Hauppage also supply the same ones with their cards :o
