Hello All,

I have just built a new machine and have just been trying out GBPVR's Live TV mode.

(1)

I am picking up sound OK but the picture has :-

- Diagonal RED GREEN BLUE lines
- Looks Black & White underneath.

When I tryed the first time I had no picture until I loaded ASUSDVD (POWERDVD). This I understand loaded the Cyberlink MPEG2 Decoder required for playing the LIVE TV feed.

A SKYTV STB is connected via S-Video2 on a Hauppauge MCE500.

It is worth pointing out that video plays perfectly when I boot into a a dual boot XP MCE setup. So it clearly seems to be a software issue.

(2)

Is there a setting for an MCE500 in the capture settings or do you just select a 150MCE ?

Also, can the quality be set to HIGH QUALITY ? I cant get it to go more than MEDIUM.

Thanks !

I think you might be using the wrong type of input (in the capture source setup). Try one of the others and see if it resolves the problem. I seem to recall something like what you describe when I set it up incorrectly (but it was a long time ago, I might remember wrong)
I'm not always right

Is anyone else using S-Video from an External Tuner?

Looks like it may have had something to do with the antenna tuner!

Used the tuning wizard. Worked through and then the signal looked much better through the S-VIDEO.

Looks like there was something messed up here between the antenna & S-Video !!! Weird.

There is some slight diagonal lines but its 95% better!

Hi Sub,

I booted the MCE system and now have about the same quality in GBPVR.

I can't get a screenshot to show how it looked now that its fixed. It looked as described at the start of this thread. Diagonal red green and sometimes blue lines moving across the screen over a black and whiite image.

I think it may have had to do with me abandoning a GBPVR Tuner Wizard dialog early in setting things up? Don't know if that helps... Strange that it affected the S-Video...

Its worth pointing out that I needed to install a MPEG-2 software Decoder as described earlier. I expect that is a requirement?

Any comment on (2) above ?

Thanks, Steph.

The default profile is always Medium, but you can edit the Medium profile to have whatever bitrate/resolution you want. In hindsight I should have called it "Default" so it didnt cause this confusion.

Hi Sub,

Thanks for your reply.

Is there an option for an 500MCE in the Capture options? I didnt see it.

If not is the 500 with FM Tuner just as good or is the 150MCE better ?

Thanks, Stephan.

You need to set up two capture sources. Select "Hauppauge PVR500" for the first capture source and configure as device #1, and "Hauppauge PVR500 with FM tuner" for second and configure as device #2.
