I am playing with Prismcast, which is a plugin intended for Channels and Plex. It provides various means to interact with video delivered by various websites, such as one associated with one's cable provider. It also creates an emulation of a HDHomeRun tuner. Is there a way to get NextPVR to recognize the emulated tuner? It will scan for tuners and sees my physical ones, but not the emulated one.

NextPVR has detected other emulated devices so there might be an issue in their emulation. Send the zipped NextPVR logs and we can have a look./

Thanks for any help. Logs attached. The emulated HDHR is supposed to be on localhost:5004, with "friendly name" PrismCast. The port can be changed if useful, but 5004 is the default. Currently, only the physical HDHR is seen after a scan.

I think 5004 is the streaming API port. Does it emulate the 65001 UDP discovery port and if do do you have that opened?

Unfortunately, I don't know what those different types of ports mean. Can you point me to relevant info? The only info given is that when setting up Prismcast with Plex, you manually add the tuner by telling it the ip address and port number.

Here is the code Prismcast appears to be using. I can't make much sense of it, but maybe you can: https://github.com/hjdhjd/prismcast/blob...iscover.ts

Looks like it doesn't emulate UDP discovery. Normally I could suggest he method shown here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid586246 with the device:ip:count

Code:
OTHER_HDHOMERUN=10A5C6CE:10.0.17.243:4

But their emulator doesn't support lineups.xml either but this code might should lineup.json If it fails send the logs.

Is that the right link? I don't see any thing that matches your description there. Confused.

Yes this isn't really a well documented feature but it is in the list. Just try that environment variable with your settings. The device id needs to be calculated but if the one you used in Plex or take you device and nodify the hex digits. The addon itself gerenates an incorrect one. Maybe submit this to AI and let it generate a valid one for you https://github.com/Silicondust/libhdhome...er.c#L1773 This gives you some ideas https://chatgpt.com/share/69f9d5ec-ab94-...750d44b26b

That all being said it seem PrismCast has an m3u interface which seems to be the way to go, just use the http://<your-prismcast-host>:5589/playlist in IPTV

Thanks; I'll check into those sources & options. Knowing that an environment variable is part of the picture is a help, but it will take some doing to figure out the rest. Yes, the m3u interface is partially working (but not quite).

I understand that setting the environment is a bit harder than with a UI but ultimately you will be one of a very few users of this feature. Realistically the emulation is only needed for Plex because it doesn't support IPTV. From NextPVR using IPTV makes a lot more sense since internally NextPVR will just call the same http stream.

Any problems you see are more likely because you are testing with the web browser and not a direct play client. That has been my experience with streaming from Chrome capture and similar Channels DVR sourced channels
