In this same vein, would it be possible to change the "GB-PVR MediaMVP Server" application to be a system tray icon, rather than a minimized window?

I would much prefer another system tray icon, like the current one for recording status, and I would think it might be then possible to have it show some basic status, like "red" for not connected, and then "green" with a mouse-over "user is watching a show" tooltip if someone was streaming content.

That's fine Smile The tray icon thing is just something that's been on my mind for some time and I thought it would be worth noting.

Actually you shouldn't even see a minimized window....do you have MVP Autostart (Playback tab in config) set to the correct number of servers to start (1 for each MVP on your network)eCngap? If this is set it will auto start the number that is in the box.....no minimized window.

You really don't need to click on the Media MVP Server item that is in the GBPVR group in the Programs menu....I am not really sure why it is still even there now that there is an autostart feature.

Thanks for pointing that out!

For some reason I had the impression that particular feature related to users with more than 1 MVP, so mine was still set to 0.

I wanted to pursue this issue a bit further, and have come up with a plugin that displays a System Tray icon for MVP sessions of GB-PVR.

Currently, it will display the normal "red" GB icon when the MVP is idle or not connected, and will display the "green" GB icon when actively streaming audio or video. The rollover tooltip will also indicate what type of data is currently streaming.

I would like to add another state that indicates whether or not an MVP device is connected, but that's going to take a bit more work.

There's a problem where the System Tray icon doesn't automatically disappear when GB-PVR is restarted that I'm still researching, but mousing over the icon will cause it to go away.

The plug-in can be found here:
MVP_Tray_Icon.zip
Please let me know if anyone has any problems or comments!

That's a great little utility... thanks! Took me minute to realize all I needed to do was copy the dll into the plugins directory and restart the recording service, but I'm just a little slow.

Anyway can you get it to show the IP address on mouse-over of the MVP whose status it's showing? Or the video being streamed? Even if not, it's a nice little utility.

Thanks again!

Sorry about the lack of install notes. Kind of got lost in the shuffle. I'm glad you figured it out!

When something is being streamed, the icon should turn green, and the mouse-over tooltip should indicate the type and name of the stream, like "Watching Live TV - Channel #" or "Listening to ...".

Sub is adding a couple of new event types in the next build that will let me show when it's connected to an MVP. Maybe he can include the IP information along with the connect event.
