Hi all,
I'm searching for a plugin or GbPvr function that can turn off the Pc after a specified number of minutes or hours like some televisions (sleep function 30m, 60m 90m, 120m, ecc...)

There is a way? A plugin?

Thanks in advance,
Dady

That would probably be a pretty easy plugin, if you have any development experience. Personally I never shut off my machine.

can this be achieved under the power management schemes?

Otherwise yes, this would be a straighforward plugin or the Shutdown plugin could be extended to include a shutdown timer,

Yes, it can inserts into the shutdown plugin... Who is the programmer??

Otherwise, how can I start to make a plugin? Is there a guide, a simple sample, ecc??

Thanks,

The Shutdown plugin is on the plugins page and i think the src is included.

Best bet is in the developers forum ask questions on writing plugins. Things like the comic plugin are good to look through, then Codemonkey is updating the weather plugin to use the newest api features that Sub has put in.

Cheers,
Colin.

I dont think that will work. Is it true that a plugin only executes as a function from the main menu, once you return to the main menu for live TV does it not stop executing the plugin, so how will it keep the timer runing? Maybe the sub could give some input on this.

The plugin could kick of a thread which sleeps for a defined period of time, then wakes up and initiates the suspend call (to hiberbate, suspend or shutdown).

I have started writing a power management plugin to give access to power modes/power schemes via GBPVR. Its just taking the Shutdown plugin one step further.

Should have something out next week,

Colin.

Hi,
You could try looking for the small executable "suspend.exe" on the web and scheduling that to run at a certain time. I use it to put my laptop into standby for the night.
