After 6 mths of frustration I will close this thread with the news that I got my retailer to test my card in his media centre m/c and he got the same tuning problems I had - whew!!

The wholesaler has sent me a new card and I am delighted to say it works! So, hardware can go wrong occasionally. I am much happier Smile

Thanks to sub and others who tried to help - it was appreciated.

C2Duo E8400, 4GB, GE8600GT, PCH A-100, HVR2200, NPVR 1.5.31, Win 7 x64.
