I'm having a bit of a problem.  I installed the first version of 0.21 a couple of weeks ago before I got the rest of my gear.  As soon as I had everything set up, I scheduled all my season long recordings.  Problem is nothing recorded.  If I looked at the Pending recordings, the failed recordings wqere still under the pending section.  If I restarted the recording service, the failed recordings would then be in the ready section marked as failed.  I thought I had things solved when I uninstalled the first version of 21 and installed the newer version.  I rescheduled all my recordings and they started working.  2 nights ago I was watching live TV.  I went to the guide a set a recording for the next show that was scheduled to come on.  I was wondering what was going to happen when the recording started and I was watching Live tv.  This was on the MVP.  I got suspicious when Live tv was not interrupted.  the next day I checked and the recording had did not happen.  It was still in the pending section with a status of scheduled.  Since then I've missed about 4 recordings.  All still in Pending with a scheduled status.  Just now, I tried to do a quick record and it did the same.  Restarted the recording service, now the recordings appear in the ready section but failed.  Quick record worked, I'm not sure what will happen with the scheduled recordings.  I checked the MDAC version just in case and it was reported to be 2.8.  I checked the newest gbrecordingservice.exe.log.  The only erros I could find were

Found expired lease. Stopping recording.
something about reference to an object that doesn't exist

not sure about the exact error the file got rewritten before I could get the exact error.

Not sure if this applies, but often if I switch to LIVE TV from the guide, it seems to use one of the buffer files in the LIVE directory.  I then use the mini guide to go to the channel above.  Then back to the channel I wanted and it works.  It it will keep cycling to this buffer file when I select a new channel.  Plays the same thing again then stops at the end of the buffer file.  As if the buffer file is read only and GBPVR cannot start writing the new live stream to it.

tried to describe this as best as I can, if I missed anything let me know.

Thanks fo rthe help.

For the first time over the last few days I have had similar problems with recording times coming and going without GBPVR kicking in to record programmes.

A restart of the service starts recording immediately.

I suspected a corrupt Access database as about a week ago I got an error that it couldnt open the database and have since tried a rebuild using Access.

Will continue trying to work out what is happening and will let you know if I can discover anything.

Regards
Chris

I'm able to open the database. I think clearing the database did fix the problem last time though. I'm sure I can get it working, but like you would really like to figure it out while it's broke so I can depend on it.

Ditto,

It's become a bit random, I've currently got about a 50% hit rate on recordings.

Cheers

If had problems with the gb pvr recording service icon disappearing thus not making a recording but I found out it was I had not closed down another tv app properly (it was just minimized) and that was holding onto the pvr 250 so it would make the recording service fail. I now make sure the app is closed properly and it has made all the recordings since then.

The best thing you can do when you get failed recording, is email me all your logs immediately after it happens. Include a brief description of what happened. What you expected it to record, and at what time. My email address again is support@devnz.com

its funny how often I say this but never get a log file. If I dont get any log file, then I'm almost certainly not looking at it...

it would be nice to have time AND DATE in the log. I don´t check the recordings daily & so i don´t know which part of the log I should send.
