Svcd won't play in GBpvr

I tried changing the decoders and i got something differnt with the dscaler mpeg video. When I selected the file it didn't give me an error instead it just showed a black screen. No sound No video. Atleast it didn't tell me it couldn't play it. LOL.

Also I can play the file fine in powerdvd(i think I thought earlier it was windvd, my bad) in a windowed look however when I try to go full screen the video rolls/goes nutty while still playing the file. Makes me think the screen output is nutty. So I looked into that. The output for the file is 480 x 576(courtesy of gspot). I haven't given up on this yet and I hope this helps someone in helping me find a cure.

Edit: I tried playing with VLC Player and same thing as PowerDVD. It seems to play fine until I go to fullscreen. If someone could confirm that the screen resolution is most likely the issue then I could put this thing to bed.

If powerdvd works, then try the Cyberlink decoder.
Fullscreen on YOUR computer is what resolution/aspect?
Remember, the video is 480x576 (PAL), and the header contains the information for the playback to "stretch" it to it's proper viewing aspect (720x576), then you're increasing that to your desktop's aspect, which is probably 1024x768 or larger.
You're forcing an aspect that the video can't display. Check the settings in control panel, display, settings, advanced, monitor, adapter, and any other advanced settings for display aspect.

I tried the Cyberlink decoder and black screen. I only have output going to the tv and I'm also in US. But I did fiddle around a bit. I had my tv resolution at 800 x 600 so I changed it to 1024 x 768 and I tried playing in powerdvd and it works in fullscreen. Strange. Then I put the cyberlink decoder in gbpvr again and tried playing through that and nothing. It doesn't even go to a black screen. Hmmm...

I'd still double-check it is a mpeg2 and not mpeg1 file. It will make a difference, and won't be handled by the decoder.

I just check with gspot and got the following video - mpeg2_video and audio - MPEG-1 Layer 2. Is that what your talking about Capone?

Yes...the video looks right...I can't say for sure, but I just did the same to a SVCD mpg I had, and the audio is listed as MPEG2_AUDIO. Someone else that knows more would need to confirm if this is an issue.

Mpeg-1 Layer 2 should be exactly the same as mpeg-2_audio...

Have you a different SVCD you can test with? It could just be the header information in that one, depending on how (what software used) it was encoded, authored, and burned.
We know it's a PAL SVCD...are you trying to play this back on an NTSC system?

yes, I am(referring to the pal on a ntsc). I've played pal svcd movies on the tv b4 through a dvd player. That was b4 i got the pvr .

Btw, I'll be trying another svcd and post shortly on its success or failure.

Update: I tried another svcd(same as first one as far as the mpeg2 video and mpeg1 layer 2 audio). But this one was Ntsc with 480 x 400. With Powerdvd plays fine. With GBpvr(tried intervideo and cyberlink decoders) both times it maxed out cpu and locked up GBpvr.

DVD Players seem to have better success at reading the header, and displaying a PAL video on an NTSC television. Computer DVD players rely on software to do much of the work, and obviously it can't decypher PAL for your NTSC system.
With the second SVCD, it should easily just play, again, depending on the decoder used.
Try changing decoder to Cyberlink in config, and play the second SVCD again.
PowerDVD plays it using Cyberlink decoder, so gbpvr should.

Reboot- I tried both svcds again trying all decoders(intervideo and cyberlink and dscaler) and with the intervideo it comes up with an error that it can't play file and with the other two it locks up gbpvr.
