My HTPVR
I have dish network, even though I can’t record HD I would like the system to be ready if things change in the future and somebody comes up with a way to record HD via satellite.
I have an E-Machine running at 2.66 GHZ I think, because it also says I have an intel celeron 330 it has 512 MB Ram and an 80 GB hard drive I already have an extra 250 GB hard drive I haven’t installed yet. I plan to purchase G-Force 6600GT I checked with e-machines and they told me I do not have an APG slot so I have to use PCI does it matter if it’s 8x or 16x? My projector has HDMI & component, do I get one with a DVI and use a converter? Is there any other concerns about what features I need with this card ? It sounds like the Hauppauge PVR 150 MCE would be a good choice but I’m not sure if I need the windows media center 2005 for this machine and the guy at e-machines didn’t know what I have for software on this machine and I currently have a virus so until I format and reinstall my software I can’t see what I have. I plan to get beyond TV 4.0 and I was wondering if I have missed anything I need? Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

So you want to get either Windows Media Center and/or beyond tv... why are you asking for feedback on gb-pvr? Also, this post should probably go under "Hardware" forum
If you want to know why nPVR is the bomb, ask my wife!

No

I honestly can't answer that.

Clean up your virus (that's #1). I can't speak for Beyond TV - that is not what I chose for my PVR needs. You don't "need" MCE to run GB-PVR. If you are still trying to decide on the software that would suit your needs, I would take a closer look at GB-PVR. I can only speak from my experience over the last year, but the support is great and I have no problems with software support (Sub should get an award of some sort). The plug-in development is amazing (you ask, they answer).

I did a lot of research before I decided on a PVR solution. I can recommend GB-PVR above all others, and not because of the price. GBPVR is well-supported, well-coded, and has the love of so many talented skinners that whatever you're looking for in a digital computer recording/viewing solution, this site will provide.

When you say "8x or 16x" this sounds like PCIe which is very different from PCI. If the system has build in video, you will have difficulties getting the PCI video card to work. Better check your specs again before purchasing.
