Hibernate Wake Issues

Here's something I'm observing: If I manually put the computer in hibernate, then the computer DOES NOT wake up from hibernate to do anything--record, update epg, etc... However, if the computer put itself into hibernate, then it wakes up fine... is this a valid observation and is there any way around it if others validate these issues?

The few times I put my machine into hibernate manually, it has started fine. Long time ago now, though.

I've had similar problems.
Intially when I built by HTPC I used XP-SP1, and all was well.
I rebuilt and used SP2.
Now, I get problems with wakeup.
The machine will go into hibernate or Standby OK.

It will wake up OK if I manually press the power button.
BUT, if it automatically comes out of standby then the screen won't display until I move the mouse. Hibernate works fine though !!

There are some bits of info over at http://www.msdn.com, but hard to find the right scenario.

Try standby instead and see how it goes.

Apparently different drivers ( video, mouse etc) can have an effect but can't pin it down better than that.

Yes, I've noticed the same thing. The only "solution" I could find was to set the time before hibernate to be short (one minute) and just to leave the machine alone. Everything works as expected then.
It would be useful just to press the power button, though...

The thing is that i only want my computer to be in hibernate at night and standby all day. But night is when i do my update epg, and some recordings, etc...

Actually that is the correct behaviour per the specifications for suspend. The idea is that if the machine wakes itself the screen is not turned on since there is no actualy user at the machine. If you move the mouse or use the keyboard the screen should come on. On my machine using the remote to move up or down also turns on the screen.

GB-PVR still works fine even though the screen doesn't come on.
