I just wanted to share this deal that some of the guys at cheapassgamer.com found. If you are like me then you probably have two, three, or even four remote controls sitting on your living room table. I've been eyeballing the Harmony Series for quite some time but was reluctant to pull the trigger until I came across this deal.

Believe it or not, but the Harmony actually works with the Hauppauge series PVR cards. I've even programmed the remote to turn on my TV, select the correct TV input, AND launch GBPVR in one fell swoop!

You can purchase the remote from the link listed below. In order to be able to use the $30 rebate (of course there is a catch) you have to have purchased an Xbox 360. I realize that most of you probably have no interest in such a thing but I thought I would share it with you anyway. I think this remote is a great value, even at $93 (the MSRP is supposed to be $150).

Another solution for your multi remotes is a cheaper "one for all" remote w/JP1. I'm going to guess you have seen posts on this.

Its far less expensive then a Harmony ($30usd) but it requires more tinkering. A fun project if like to customize stuff. I can't say it worked right away but once I did get it the way I wanted I can get away with only one remote. Well two, one for me and one for the wife. Mine has to many buttons.

I've managed get all my remotes rolled into one. A SONY receiver, Sharp TV, Panasonic DVD, Canon DV cam, Hauppauge 45 button, and I still have function buttons left for a cable/sat box (I don't have one), CD player, and one other device.
GBPVR Server:
AMD Sempron 3300+, 1gb DDR, 100, 200 & 500gb HDDs, DVD -/+RW PVR150 RETAIL, PVR150MCE.
GBPVR 1.0.16, SKIN'S = Default Blue, PLUGIN'S = None

Wow! For that price I think it's definitely worth the purchase. If I didn't already have my hands full tinkering with the GBPVR software (and plugins) I would probably have jumped on this myself.

I must admit, I still had to tinker with the harmony remote since not all of the buttons (red, green, blue, yellow...) had assigned functions. But the software provided with the harmony made it a snap! Just select the button you want to program, assign the desired function from a pulldown menu, and apply the changes. It's that simple! There's even a picture of the remote so you can refer to it should you need to. Not bad for only $93. Big Grin

Oh, one more thing, It only took 2 days to receive my remote since the warehouse is based on the East Coast (US). Not bad for free shipping! Big Grin

I have the harmony 659 and use it with GBPVR. It's the best remote I've ever had. I never have to worry about a component not working with it. It can control about any IR device you throw at it. Setup is definately the strong point of this remote.....and it has been blessed by the wife!
