12:59:02.343 ERROR SetOSDDisplayBuffer - IKsPropertySet->Set IVAC_OSD_DISPLAY_BUFFER failed

(Sub - could you elaborate on this?)
Its just saying a call that would normally succeed has failed. This is because GB-PVR has no built in logic for restarting the Hauppauge PVR350 after the machine is woken, and the drivers dont seem to be doing it automatically.

The tv out on this device is no longer actively supported. You're better off just using a regular video card for output.

If it is not too much of a hassle - maybe I could download them from your web-site (if you have one) or you could send them to me (I have a gmail account..)

You can find most drivers ever released, and then some, at ftp://ftp.shspvr.com
I'm not always right
GB-PVR 1.2.9
Accent HT-400 Case, AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 1024MB, 1TB+300GB+180GB, WinXP Pro-SP2, NVidia 7600GT
Nova-T USB2, PVR-350 recording from Dilog 355 DVB-T box, USB-UIRT (receiving & transmitting)

Alright sub - thank you for elaborating on that - was just wondering if it could be explained by my (buggy) graphics card - but apparently not.

Interesting Stefan - I will look further into it when I get back from work

do this. IIRC, these hibernation issues vanished when i used the (then) latest drivers over from ftp.shspvr.com (im using version 1.18.21.22301)
AMD 1600mHz, 512 M RAM, 20+160 GB drive, Hauppauge PVR-350 + PVR-150 + PVR-150MCE, Win XP Pro SP3, using software decoding.

I'm not at my machine at this moment, so I cannot check exactly the driver numbers. However, I can't remember when I last upgraded. So it must be somewhere end of 2004. That corresponds to the date of the post you were referring to. I'll try to remember to check tonight.

steyr Wrote:- You do NOT need to have GBPVRwake.exe and wake.cmd running to restart you Hauppauge card - to avoid the "colour-bars-screen-on-tv-out-after-hibernation"?

I do use gbpvrwake and a wake.cmd. But only for logging and to wake the system in a standard situation: gbpvr in the main menu. There are no restart commands in my wake.cmd. I'm sure about this, as sometimes gbpvr stops (or is stopped) and the system still works OK.

Have you tried the tests in the pm I sent you?
MaBo Wrote:Did you try entering hibernation both with gbpvr running and gbpvr not running? Is the restart behaviour the same?

If you use gbpvrwake and the wake.cmd file, does gbpvr stop working when you restart? That should be the case!

betlit - Thanx for the info - might come in handy later :-)
My current driver is 1.18.21.23257.

It is rather odd - but now my system has stopped hanging after resuming from hibernation.. (I haven't made any hardware changes)
I've been experimenting quite a bit with GBPVRwake.exe and your wake.cmd

It all boils down to this.

..::!!EDIT!!::..

The simplified version of wake.cmd looks like this.

net stop "GB-PVR Recording Service"
devcon restart PCI\VEN_4444
net start "GB-PVR Recording Service
START gbpvr.exe

If I check the log-file (c:\syslog.txt) it tells me this:

The pvr350 could not be restarted. Reboot required

Nevertheless I can continue using GBPVR without hanging the system Smile

However if I do not run GBPVRwake.exe and the wake.cmd file - my system will hang after hibernation in case I left GB-PVR running when going into hibernation...

To update my TV-guide - I use GB-PVR to initally wake the machine.

Then I have added 3 tasks to Scheduled Tasks

- Download EPG (using TVxb)
- Reboot machine
- Start GBPVR with parameter -UpdateEPG

5 minutes later the machine will hibernate

Everything should be fine next time I start the machine

if you are using the hauppauge remote ir.exe, you have to close it too before you can restart the card... (just call "ir.exe /quit")

Thanx - but I'm not using ir.exe :o

However I'm still experimenting with wake.cmd.

My computer doesn't seem to be very consistent when resuming from hibernation. Sometimes it works - sometimes it hangs the machine completely.

It always happens when it reaches this stage in wake.cmd:

START c:\programmer\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.exe

The only way to regain control is resetting the machine (pushing the reset button)

When Windows returns to running state - there is nothing unusual (no warnings or errors) in the program or system log.

I've tried with another graphic card - as I suspected that to be part of the problem.
This however - did not make a difference..

My next step is to try hibernate trigger (find it here: http://www.rpi.edu/~desimn/suspendtrigger/index.html)

My idea is to - just before the machine hibernates - to exit gbpvr, (by running a bat-file with the following command: killtask /im gbpvr.exe).

When resuming from hibernation - gbpvr is not running - but will be restarted by wake.cmd...

If it works - I will let you guys know....

I really hope you mange to fix it, else you will be damned to join the band of perpetually frustrated 350 owners.
