Hi,

I've been using GBPVR for some time with a Hauppage 350 and it's been perfect. I've just installed 2 PCI Hauppage Nova-T cards to get freeview and I've come unstuck. Lots works except the critial bit:

1) I can scan for channels, the channels preview while being scanned.

2) I have downloaded the EPG I can see all program details

3) However if I try and tune in to any channel I get complete white noise, no picture at all.

4) All display elements are ok (menus etc) and these are playing through the 350 to the TV.

I'm not sure what I can do next (if you need logs I need to work out where to get them from - can you point me in the right direction)

Thanks

Have you chosen the correct device for the Nova-T in the set up? it doesn't sound right that you're seeing noise on the screen, that sounds to me like it's still showing the channel from the analogue card. The digital cards tend to either show picture or nothing at all. That's what you get with digital, two states:-

It works/It doesn't work

when playing with the config I used the button that selected only devices installed and I got the Nova-T 90002 option - how can I check if that's right?

That will be the right type.

Try it without using your PVR350 tv out first. Set the 'hardware decoder' to 'none - use software decoder'

Ok,

I'ev done battle with this thing for most of the weekend. In summary GBPVR works perfectly with the Nova-T cards if I don't use the PVR350 for playback.

The system works perfectly with analogue TV with the PVR350 and no Nova-T cards in place.

However whenever I try to have both installed at the same time I get an error opening file message when trying to play livetv.

I'm using all the latest Hauppage drivers. On WinXP (all latest)

Does anyone have any ideas? have they made this combination work? what were the secrets?

This is all being installed on a dedicated PC so I'll set it up any way I need to to make it work.

Thanks in advance

The problem still persists (unsurprisingly) but Now I have decent log files (after deleting all old logs and restarting all).

The error is reported in the log but meaningless to me. Anyone here seen this before?

Hello.

I am using a PVR350 and a Nova-T combination.

This works fine for me.

I started out with the 350 and then added the Nova-T after about 9 months.

No special tricks involved.

Only problem I have is that the TV out on the 350 crashes (no video, only orange/pink horizontal lines) needs a reboot to fix. This only started to happen when I moved from an old Dell Optiplex GX150 to a brand new Dell Optiplex GX620. On the old Dell the setup was faultless.

I understand from past posts in this forum that the PVR350 can be problematic. Works well for some people and never works properly for others.

My experience suggests that a sucessful setup may be quite dependent on the base hardware.

Regards

You are using the Microsoft DVR-MS mux, which records .dvr-ms files which the PVR350 cant play. You need to download and install the Cyberlink mux, and set it as the active BDA Mux. This will cause it to record standard .mpg files.

Unfortunately this is very common with the PVR350 tv out. There is no known work around other than trying it in another machine and hoping you get lucky. This bug was reason I decided to stop actively supporting the PVR350.

Hi,

Ok I've understood I need a muxer codec, and it appears they are all proprietary. Now I've invested 100s of £s in this box and I'm happy to pay for software to get it working. I like GBPVR (having used it for months with a PVR350) so I want to stay with it. Can anyone tell me a piece of software to buy that will have the required mux so I can get my machine working with GBPVR? The reason I ask is that the cyberlink website lists lots of software products and it's not clear to me which ones will have the required mux in. Clearly I'm going to buy the cheapest, but I want to make sure I buy something that has the required filter in it!

Thanks

Malcolm
